An Augmented Lagrangian Method for Optimization Problems in Banach Spaces [PDF]

open access: yesSIAM Journal of Control and Optimization, 2018
We propose a variant of the classical augmented Lagrangian method for constrained optimization problems in Banach spaces. Our theoretical framework does not require any convexity or second-order assumptions, and it allows the treatment of inequality ...

Distributed Optimization of Multi-Beam Directional Communication Networks

open access: yes, 2017
We formulate an optimization problem for maximizing the data rate of a common message transmitted from nodes within an airborne network broadcast to a central station receiver while maintaining a set of intra-network rate demands.

QPALM: A Newton-type Proximal Augmented Lagrangian Method for Quadratic Programs [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Conference on Decision and Control, 2019
We present a proximal augmented Lagrangian based solver for general quadratic programs (QPs), relying on semismooth Newton iterations with exact line search to solve the inner subproblems. The exact line search reduces in this case to finding the zero of

On barrier and modified barrier multigrid methods for 3d topology optimization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
One of the challenges encountered in optimization of mechanical structures, in particular in what is known as topology optimization, is the size of the problems, which can easily involve millions of variables.

Reconfigurable Acoustofluidic Microvortices for Selective Microcargo Delivery

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work introduces a frequency‐encoded, reconfigurable acoustofluidic system that overcomes the low throughput and poor selectivity of conventional micro‐delivery methods. By exploiting discrete microbubble resonances to program adaptive microvortex modes, the platform enables real‐time switching and selective guidance of microscale payloads through ...

An augmented Lagrangian method for solving total variation (TV)-based image registration model

open access: yesJournal of Algorithms & Computational Technology, 2020
Variational methods for image registration basically involve a regularizer to ensure that the resulting well-posed problem admits a solution. Different choices of regularizers lead to different deformations.

Adaptive inexact fast augmented Lagrangian methods for constrained convex optimization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
In this paper we analyze several inexact fast augmented Lagrangian methods for solving linearly constrained convex optimization problems. Mainly, our methods rely on the combination of excessive-gap-like smoothing technique developed in [15] and the ...

A Soft‐Tip Hydraulically Steerable Catheter for Enhanced Flexibility and Safety in Vascular Interventions

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
This study introduces a hydraulically steerable catheter with a soft tip in vascular procedures. The steering soft tip achieves a minimal diameter of 2.6 mm and supports a 180° bend. Real‐time shape and position tracking, facilitated by segmentation and endpoint detection techniques, improves navigation.

Equilibrium path and stability analysis of rigid origami using energy minimization of frame model

open access: yesFrontiers in Built Environment, 2022
This paper presents a method of equilibrium path analysis and stability analysis of an equilibrium state for a rigid origami, which consists of rigid flat faces connected by straight crease lines (folding lines) and can be folded and unfolded without ...

A Novel Contact‐Implicit Trajectory Optimization Framework for Quadruped Locomotion without Fixed Contact Sequences

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
Legged robots have advanced in environmental interaction through contact, but most works rely on fixed contact sequences. This work presents a new method based on an indirect optimization method for legged robots to automatically generate contact sequences for complex movements.
