Cycas palmiyesi dekoratif ve her dem yeşil bir bitki oluşu nedeniyle son yirmi yıldır çok yaygın olarak kullanılan bir süs bitkisidir. Bir çok ülkede dış ve iç mekanlarda yetiştirilmektedir. Bu bitkinin en önemli zararlısı Aulacaspis yasumatsui Takagi (Hemiptera: Diaspididae) olup, tüm dünyaya konukçusuyla birlikte yayılan istilacı bir türdür.
