Suppressed Thermal Conductivity in van der Waals Semiconductor SnS2 by Stacking Engineering

open access: yesAdvanced Energy and Sustainability Research, EarlyView.
Achieving low thermal conductivity is crucial for materials used for thermoelectric energy conversion. It is demonstrated that the lattice thermal conductivity of van der Waals semiconductor SnS2 can be significantly reduced by introducing 2H and 4H structures stacked along the c‐axis.

Overcoming Hydrophobicity with Water Enables Ultrafast Hydrolysis of Waste Polyethylene Terephthalate at Very Mild Conditions

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Entrapping water within the microstructure of hydrophobic PET unlocks ultrafast hydrolysis under remarkably mild conditions. The approach demonstrates a rare combination of high chemical efficiency, low environmental burden, and strong potential for scale‐up — significantly advancing the prospects for sustainable recycling of condensation polymers ...

Layered Ti1‐xFexS2 Cathode Materials with Anionic Redox Chemistry for Mg Storage

open access: yesAdvanced Energy and Sustainability Research, EarlyView.
The predicted layered Ti‐Fe sulfides exhibit joint cationic and anionic redox and faster Mg2+ kinetics over pyrite forms and are promising cathodes for rechargeable Mg battery. Rechargeable magnesium batteries (RMBs) are a promising alternative to lithium‐ion batteries because of the high capacity and crustal abundance of magnesium.

Electrooxidative Divergent Halocyclizations of Ambident Amides

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Electrooxidation enables tunable halocyclization of ambident amides, yielding either C–O or C–N products through ionic or radical pathways, respectively. While detailed experimental and analytical mechanistic studies highlight mode‐dependent selectivity, in silico experimentation provided insight into the energetic origin of this divergence.

Circularity, Sustainability, and the Quality of Coffee Sold via Vending Machines: What Do Italian Consumers Prefer?

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Vending is an important sector in the daily lives of many people, and coffee is the most frequently consumed product in the European market. Like many other sectors, vending is responding to the challenge of sustainable development by taking various actions, such as offering increasingly ecologically sound coffee while maintaining/improving ...

Targeting Aurora Kinases as Essential Cell‐Cycle Regulators to Deliver Multi‐Stage Antimalarials Against Plasmodium Falciparum

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
In this study, we repurposed human Aurora kinase‐specific inhibitors to identify potential antimalarial agents. Two inhibitors, hesperadin and TAE684, exhibited sub‐micromolar activity across multiple parasite stages, with hesperadin demonstrating significant potency and selectivity by specifically targeting PfArk1.
