Electrochemical and Surface Insights Into X12CrMoWVNbN10‐1‐1 Steel Corrosion in Chloride Solutions at Variable pH

open access: yesMaterials and Corrosion, Volume 77, Issue 4, Page 518-528, April 2026.
The corrosion performance of X12CrMoWVNbN10‐1‐1 steel in chloride environments dramatically depends on pH. Acidic conditions trigger intense surface degradation, whereas neutral and alkaline media foster the formation of a compact and stable passive film, drastically reducing both general and localized corrosion.

Effect of austempering parameters on microstructure and mechanical properties of horizontal continuous casting ductile iron dense bars [PDF]

open access: yesChina Foundry, 2015
In the present research, the orthogonal experiment was carried out to investigate the influence of different austempering process parameters (i.e. austenitizing temperature and time, and austempering temperature and time) on microstructure and mechanical

Influence Of Composition And Austempering Temperature On Machinability Of Austempered Ductile Iron

open access: yes, 2014
Present investigations involve a systematic study on the machinability of austempered ductile irons (ADI) developed from four commercially viable ductile irons alloyed with different contents of 0, 0.1, 0.3 and 0.6 wt.% of Ni. The influence of Ni content, amount of retained austenite and hardness of ADI on machining behavior has been conducted ...

Effect of two-step austempering on fatigue behavior of austempered ductile iron (ADI) [PDF]

open access: yesSN Applied Sciences, 2019
The effect of two-step austempering on the fatigue properties in alloyed ductile iron was studied. The ductile irons were subjected to conventional and two-step austempering processes. The austempering process was performed by making three batches. In the first batch, samples after austenitizing at 900 °C were conventionally austempered separately at ...

Austempering Post‐Intercritical Austenitizing to Enhance Mechanical Properties of an Oil Country Tubular Goods Steel

open access: yessteel research international, Volume 96, Issue 12, Page 211-227, December 2025.
A new austempering approach following intercritical austenitizing is explored to improve the mechanical behavior of API 5CT steel. By tailoring ferrite–bainite microstructures, the process achieves a balance of strength and ductility without the need for post‐quench tempering. The results highlight a cost‐effective alternative to conventional quenching

Effect of refined multi-scale microstructures on the ultra-high impact toughness of bainitic steel austempered below Ms temperature

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2023
In this study, the multi-scale microstructures of bainitic steel were refined to different degrees by austempering below Ms (martensite start temperature). The influence of multi-scale microstructures and their boundaries on impact toughness was analyzed.

Thermomechanical Processing, Microstructure, and Mechanical Properties of Medium‐Mn Steel

open access: yessteel research international, Volume 96, Issue 12, Page 252-260, December 2025.
The microstructure evolution and mechanical properties of a medium‐Mn steel are investigated after thermomechanical processing and isothermal holding at various temperatures. A fine multiphase structure of bainite, fresh or tempered martensite, and retained austenite are obtained.

Effect of alloying elements on austempered ductile iron (ADI) properties and its process: Review [PDF]

open access: yesChina Foundry, 2015
Austempered ductile iron (ADI) parts have a unique combination of high strength and toughness with excellent design flexibility and low cost. These excellent properties are directly related to its microstructure called "ausferrite" that is the result of ...

A Statistical Review of Hydrogen Effects on the Fatigue and Fracture Behavior of Steel

open access: yesFatigue &Fracture of Engineering Materials &Structures, Volume 48, Issue 9, Page 3613-3644, September 2025.
ABSTRACT This study conducts a statistical re‐analysis of experimental data from the literature to assess the influence of hydrogen on key mechanical properties, including the medium‐/high‐cycle fatigue strength and the threshold value of the stress intensity factor range.

Diffraction‐based determination of single‐crystal elastic constants of polycrystalline titanium alloys

open access: yesJournal of Applied Crystallography, Volume 52, Issue 5, Page 1144-1156, October 2019., 2019
The single‐crystal elastic constants of polycrystalline titanium alloys have been determined using neutron and synchrotron powder diffraction.Single‐crystal elastic constants have been derived by lattice strain measurements using neutron diffraction on polycrystalline Ti‐6Al‐4V, Ti‐6Al‐2Sn‐4Zr‐6Mo and Ti‐3Al‐8V‐6Cr‐4Zr‐4Mo alloy samples.
