Effect of PWHT and Electrical Parameters on Austenitic Phase, Sigma Phase and Corrosion in Duplex Steels S32205

open access: yesEngineering Reports, Volume 8, Issue 4, April 2026.
Welding power and post‐weld heat treatment (PWHT) at 850°C influence phase transformations in S32205 duplex stainless steel, promoting sigma phase formation and reducing corrosion resistance. PWHT at 850°C also replicates HAZ‐like microstructures in base metal, enabling improved characterization of weld joint properties.

Hybrid GRA–Machine Learning Framework for Surface and Performance Optimization of Ti49.3Ni50.7 SMA in Biomedical Applications

open access: yesEngineering Reports, Volume 8, Issue 4, April 2026.
Ti49.3Ni50.7 shape memory alloy is highly biocompatible but difficult to machine due to its complex thermo‐mechanical behavior. An enhanced Wire EDM process was developed using a Taguchi L18 design, GRA, and Random Forest with Bayesian optimization. The optimized parameters achieved a surface roughness of 1.298 μm and a material removal rate of 2.537 ...

Electrochemical and Surface Insights Into X12CrMoWVNbN10‐1‐1 Steel Corrosion in Chloride Solutions at Variable pH

open access: yesMaterials and Corrosion, Volume 77, Issue 4, Page 518-528, April 2026.
The corrosion performance of X12CrMoWVNbN10‐1‐1 steel in chloride environments dramatically depends on pH. Acidic conditions trigger intense surface degradation, whereas neutral and alkaline media foster the formation of a compact and stable passive film, drastically reducing both general and localized corrosion.

A Review on Cracking in Laser Additive Manufacturing of Nickel‐Based Superalloys: Types, Formation Mechanisms, and Suppression Strategies

open access: yesRare Metals, Volume 45, Issue 4, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Nickel‐based superalloys (Ni‐based superalloys) have attracted extensive attention in laser additive manufacturing (LAM) due to their capability to directly fabricate complex and high‐performance structural components. However, the rapid melting and solidification inherent to LAM result in intense thermal cycling, which induces high residual ...
