The authorization problem in shared files
IBM Systems Journal, 1970The problem of sharing information while protecting proprietary data in large computer files is reviewed. The author suggests certain guidelines for data protection in general-purpose, time-sharing systems, and develops a model of a secured shared file. Operation of the system based on these guidelines is discussed.

The Conversion of the Series Authority File to an Online File
Technical Services Quarterly, 1993In 1990, Indiana University Libraries brought up the cataloging subsystem of NOTIS. A project was initiated to convert to an online file the series decision card file in the Main Library on the Bloomington campus. The scope and limitations of the project are described.
