On the regimes of auto-ignition in a turbulent medium

Stochastic simulation of hydrogen–oxygen auto-ignition at the microscale
The Journal of Chemical Physics, 2023A hybrid stochastic simulation method is developed to study H2–O2 auto-ignition at the microscale. Simulation results show that the discrete and stochastic characteristics of reaction collisions have notable impacts on the ignition process, particularly in the early stages when only a few radicals exist.

The auto-ignition temperature of methane
Journal of Hazardous Materials, 1984Abstract An improved method for measuring auto-ignition temperatures of gaseous fuels has been developed. Results are reported for methane—air mixtures and compared with previous work. It appears that the normally accepted minimum auto-ignition temperature for methane of 537 (or 540)°C was theoretically rather than experimentally derived.

Symposium (International) on Combustion, 1992The problem of auto-ignition in an initially non-premixed, homogeneous, isotropic turbulent medium is considered. The equations governing the combined processes of mixing and chemical reaction are formulated. Mixing and reaction progress are described by a mixture-fraction variable ξ and a reaction-progress variable c, respectively.
