Reducing Iron Oxide with Ammonia: A Sustainable Path to Green Steel

open access: yesAdvanced Science, 2023
Iron making is the biggest single cause of global warming. The reduction of iron ores with carbon generates about 7% of the global carbon dioxide emissions to produce ≈1.85 billion tons of steel per year. This dramatic scenario fuels efforts to re‐invent

"Effect of supercritical carbon dioxide on vulcanization kinetics of silicone rubber"

open access: yesHecheng xiangjiao gongye, 2022
Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) was used to investigate the effects of saturation time, saturation temperature (Ts) and saturation pressure (Ps) of supercritical carbon dioxide (scCO2) and the amount of diisopropylbenzene peroxide (DCP) on the ...

Kinetic Analysis of the Reaction between Tannic Acid (TA) and L-Lysine Diisocyanate (LDI) Systems

open access: yesInternational Journal of Polymer Science, 2023
The kinetics of the synthesis of green polyurethane from the reaction between tannic acid (TA) and L-lysine diisocyanate (LDI) were investigated using the differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) technique and dynamic rheological tests.

Derivation of an Analytical Solution to a Reaction-Diffusion Model for Autocatalytic Degradation and Erosion in Polymer Microspheres. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2015
A mathematical reaction-diffusion model is defined to describe the gradual decomposition of polymer microspheres composed of poly(D,L-lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA) that are used for pharmaceutical drug delivery over extended periods of time.

Enhanced stochastic oscillations in autocatalytic reactions

open access: yesPhysical Review E, 2009
We study a simplified scheme of $k$ coupled autocatalytic reactions, previously introduced by Togashi and Kaneko. The role of stochastic fluctuations is elucidated through the use of the van Kampen system-size expansion and the results compared with direct stochastic simulations.

Real-Time Monitoring Polymerization Reactions Using Dipolar Echoes in 1H Time Domain NMR at a Low Magnetic Field

open access: yesMolecules, 2022
1H time domain nuclear magnetic resonance (1H TD-NMR) at a low magnetic field becomes a powerful technique for the structure and dynamics characterization of soft organic materials.

Light‐Driven Competitive Selection in a Protein‐Catalyzed Dissipative Peptide Replication

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
A structurally flexible protein catalyzes replication within a dissipative reaction network driven by UVA‐induced disulfide rearrangements. The protein accelerates templated autocatalytic cycles with replication emerging as the dominant pathway.

From Covalent Traps to Fluorescent Beacons: The Expanding Arsenal of Chemical Probes for Studying Ubiquitin and Ubiquitin‐Like Proteins

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
A large variety of chemistry‐based ubiquitin probes have been developed. ABSTRACT Ubiquitin (Ub) and ubiquitin‐like proteins (Ubls) orchestrate diverse cellular processes through reversible post‐translational modification of target proteins. Their conjugation is governed by a cascade of E1 activating, E2 conjugating, and E3 ligating enzymes, while ...

The Role of Chemistry Across Disciplines From Humanities to Life Sciences in Understanding Complexity and Emergence

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
This study explores the origins of life by linking prebiotic chemistry, the emergence of information‐carrying molecules such as RNA and proteins, and philosophical questions about consciousness. The study emphasizes the role of molecular evolution in the Central Dogma and provides insights into the chemical origins of biology and the basis of life's ...
