Convective fingering of an autocatalytic reaction front [PDF]
We report experimental observations of the convection-driven fingering instability of an iodate-arsenous acid chemical reaction front. The front propagated upward in a vertical slab; the thickness of the slab was varied to control the degree of instability. We observed the onset and subsequent nonlinear evolution of the fingers, which were made visible

So far, only a few chemical oscillators based on organic reactions have been developed. Here, the authors report both autocatalytic and oscillatory reaction networks that form substituted guanidines from thiouronium salts; when coupled to cascade ...

Molecular simulation study of the stabilization process of NEPE propellant
In this reported study, the density functional theory (DFT) was used at the (U)B3LYP/6-311G(d,p) level to investigate the stabilization process of the nitrate ester plasticized polyether propellant (NEPE).

Self-Reproduction and Darwinian Evolution in Autocatalytic Chemical Reaction Systems
Understanding the emergence of life from (primitive) abiotic components has arguably been one of the deepest and yet one of the most elusive scientific questions.

Autocatalysis is a crucial process of nonequilibrium self-organization in nature and is assumed to play a role in the origin of life. The essential dynamical phenomena of an autocatalytic reaction network are bistability and the development of ...

Cure Kinetics of Epoxy-Novolac Resin Containing Tetrabromo-bisphenol-A as a Flame Retardant by Isothermal Calorimetry Method [PDF]
Cure kinetics of an epoxy-novolac resin with tetrabromo-bisphenol-A, as a flame retardant, was investigated in the presence of nadic methyl anhydride as a curing agent. Different amounts of benzyl dimethyl amine were used as accelerator.

Pattern of Reaction Diffusion Front in Laminar Flows [PDF]
Autocatalytic reaction between reacted and unreacted species may propagate as solitary waves, namely at a constant front velocity and with a stationary concentration profile, resulting from a balance between molecular diffusion and chemical reaction. The
