Focusing property of autofocusing Bessel beams
We introduce what we believe to be a new family of abruptly autofocusing waves named autofocusing Bessel beams (ABBs). Since the beams only strongly influence the area near the focus, it holds promise for medical laser treatment and optical tweezers. By the angular spectrum method, ABBs are proved to be a class solution for the Helmholtz equation.

AutoSAFT: Autofocusing for extended depth of imaging in scanning acoustic microscopy
Abstract In the scanning acoustic microscopy (SAM) imaging, it is essential to address the diminished lateral resolution in the out‐of‐focus region, as image quality correlates with the ultrasound propagation distance either above or below the focal plane.

A nonquadratic regularization-based technique for joint SAR imaging and model error correction [PDF]
Regularization based image reconstruction algorithms have successfully been applied to the synthetic aperture radar (SAR) imaging problem. Such algorithms assume that the mathematical model of the imaging system is perfectly known.

Mathieu and Weber tightly autofocusing beams
We theoretically investigate the propagation dynamics of vectorial Mathieu and Weber tightly autofocusing beams, which are constructed based on nonparaxial Weber and Mathieu accelerating beams, respectively. They can automatically focus along the paraboloid and ellipsoid, and the focal fields represent the tightly focusing properties resembling that ...

Abstract The use of matrix‐assisted laser desorption/ionization (MALDI) mass spectrometry for the analysis of carbohydrates and glycoconjugates is a well‐established technique and this review is the 12th update of the original article published in 1999 and brings coverage of the literature to the end of 2022.

Controlling the Abrupt Autofocusing of Circular Airy Vortex Beam via Uniaxial Crystal
The propagation of many kinds of structured light beams in uniaxial crystal has been investigated. However, the investigation of the evolution of these structured light beams after the uniaxial crystal is lacking. In this paper, an evolution formula of a

Joint sparsity-driven inversion and model error correction for radar imaging [PDF]
Solution of inverse problems in imaging requires the use of a mathematical model of the observation process. However such models often involve errors and uncertainties themselves. The application of interest in this paper is synthetic aperture radar (SAR)

Species‐specific diatom dynamics shape their vertical distribution and export during bloom decline
Abstract The Southern Ocean is a critical region for global biogeochemical cycles, particularly for carbon dioxide uptake and organic carbon export, partly driven by extensive phytoplankton blooms. In naturally iron‐fertilized regions of this otherwise iron‐limited ocean, these blooms are primarily driven by diatoms. Variability in bloom occurrences on

Multistatic Synthetic Aperture Radar Autofocus for Back Projection Imaging of a Moving Target
This paper presents a new metric‐based autofocus approach, called Localised Threshold Sharpness (LTS), which employs Multistatic SAR data to localise and focus a target moving with up to six degrees of freedom motion on a real‐time, pulse‐by‐pulse basis.
