From Hemp Bast to Lyocell Fiber: Sustainable Process Optimization for Lyocell‐Grade Dissolving Pulp

open access: yesJournal of Applied Polymer Science, Volume 143, Issue 16, April 20, 2026.
This study presents a sustainable method to produce lyocell‐grade dissolving pulp from Canadian hemp bast fibers. A simplified alkali‐chelation‐bleaching process, free from sulfur and chlorine, yielded high α‐cellulose pulp with low lignin and hemicellulose content. The pulp was successfully spun into continuous hemp‐based lyocell fibers, demonstrating

Sargassum muticum Hydrothermal Extract: Effects on Serum Parameters and Antioxidant Activity in Rats

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2019
Sargassum muticum was processed by hydrothermal extraction under previously optimized non-isothermal conditions (up to 187 °C). The alginate free crude hydrolysate was further concentrated by ultrafiltration, operating in diafiltration mode to ...

In-situ polymerization of lignocelluloses of autohydrolysis process with acrylamide

open access: yesJournal of Bioresources and Bioproducts, 2023
In the present study, the hydrolysates generated via autohydrolysis of spruce wood chips were directly used as feedstock for producing coagulants. The in-situ polymerization of acrylamide (AM) and lignocellulose (LC) of hydrolysates was successfully conducted.

Valorization of corn husk waste: Xylooligosaccharides as a sustainable prebiotic enhance growth, gut health, and fillet quality in Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus)

open access: yesJournal of the World Aquaculture Society, Volume 57, Issue 2, April 2026.
Abstract Xylooligosaccharides (XOS) are advantageous prebiotics that promote sustainable aquaculture. The growth performance, gut microbiota, and fillet composition of juvenile Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) were investigated in relation to the prebiotic effects of corn husk‐derived XOS, extracted using alkaline extraction and autohydrolysis ...

Predicting xylose yield from prehydrolysis of hardwoods: A machine learning approach

open access: yesFrontiers in Chemical Engineering, 2022
Hemicelluloses are amorphous polymers of sugar molecules that make up a major fraction of lignocellulosic biomasses. They have applications in the bioenergy, textile, mining, cosmetic, and pharmaceutical industries.

Influence of Organic and Inorganic Amendments on Aggregate Development in a Sodic Dispersive Soil

open access: yesSoil Use and Management, Volume 42, Issue 2, April‐June 2026.
ABSTRACT Improvement of soil structure is critical for efficient nutrient and water transport to plants, particularly in sodic, dispersive soils. In addition to inorganic amendments such as gypsum, organic amendments (OAs) can enhance soil aggregation and stability through biochemical processes, but it is unclear how OAs composition [carbon (C) content,

Structural Changes to Aspen Wood Lignin during Autohydrolysis Pretreatment

open access: yesBioResources, 2016
Aspen wood was subjected to autohydrolysis as a pre-treatment to characterize the structural changes occurring in lignin fractions during the pre-treatment process. Milled wood lignin (MWL) was isolated from both the native aspen wood and hydrolyzed wood
