Active Automata Learning with Adaptive Distinguishing Sequences

open access: yesCoRR, 2019
This document investigates the integration of adaptive distinguishing sequences into the process of active automata learning (AAL). A novel AAL algorithm "ADT" (adaptive discrimination tree) is developed and presented. Since the submission of the original thesis, the presented algorithm has been integrated into LearnLib - an open-source library for ...

The Toothpick Sequence and Other Sequences from Cellular Automata

open access: yes, 2010
A two-dimensional arrangement of toothpicks is constructed by the following iterative procedure. At stage 1, place a single toothpick of length 1 on a square grid, aligned with the y-axis. At each subsequent stage, for every exposed toothpick end, place an orthogonal toothpick centered at that end. The resulting structure has a fractal-like appearance.

Integrating Patient‐Reported Quality Measures in Systemic Lupus Erythematosus: Development of the American College of Rheumatology Implementation Guide

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective To support high‐quality, patient‐centered care for systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), the American College of Rheumatology (ACR) developed evidence‐based measures incorporating clinical and patient‐reported outcome measures (PROMs). Using the Consolidated Framework for Implementation Research (CFIR), we conducted semistructured interviews ...

Pseudo-random Sequences Generated by Cellular Automata

open access: yes, 2008
International audienceGeneration of pseudo random sequences by cellular automata, as well as by hybrid cellular automata is surveyed. An application to the fast evaluation and FPGA implementation of some classes of boolean functions is sketched ...

Effects of Causal Beliefs About Gout on Public Views About Gout Management: A Randomized Experimental Study

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Despite well‐described biologic causes, the public views unhealthy lifestyle choices as the primary cause of gout. This study investigated how causal beliefs about gout influence the public's views about its management. Methods In a randomized study, 201 members of the public viewed one of two 2‐minute videos about gout.

Permutation and sampling with maximum length CA for pseudorandom number generation

open access: yes, 2007
In this paper, we study the effect of dynamic permutation and sampling on the randomness quality of sequences generated by cellular automata (CA). Dynamic permutation and sampling have not been explored in previous CA work and a suitable implementation ...

Multidimensional cellular automata and generalization of Fekete's lemma

open access: yesDiscrete Mathematics & Theoretical Computer Science, 2008
Fekete's lemma is a well known combinatorial result on number sequences: we extend it to functions defined on $d$-tuples of integers. As an application of the new variant, we show that nonsurjective $d$-dimensional cellular automata are characterized

Performance of 1D quantum cellular automata in the presence of error

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2016
This work expands a previous block-partitioned quantum cellular automata (BQCA) model proposed by Brennen and Williams [Phys. Rev. A. 68, 042311 (2003)] to incorporate physically realistic error models.

Innovative Processing of Compacted Waste Aluminum Alloy Powders via Controlled Remelting and Solidification

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates an efficient recycling route for out‐of‐spec AlSi10Mg atomized powders through compaction and arc remelting followed by suction casting. By correlating compaction load, cooling rate, and resulting microstructure, we show that intermediate pressures (50–80 kN) and rapid cooling refine dendrites, reduce porosity, and enhance ...

Software integration testing based on communication coverage criteria and partial model generation

open access: yes, 2008
This paper considers the problem of integration testing the components of a timed distributed software system. We assume that communication between the components is specified using timed interface automata and use computational tree logic (CTL) to ...
