Field Report from Collaborative Research Center 1625: Heterogeneous Research Data Management Using Ontology Representations

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A unified research data management framework for heterogeneous materials data is presented. The system integrates multimodal datasets using ontologies and knowledge graphs, enabling interoperability and FAIR (findable, accessible, interoperable, reusable) data principles. By linking data across scales and workflows, it supports reproducible, Artifitial

Complex wave functions, CPT and quantum field theory for classical generalized Ising models

open access: yesNuclear Physics B
The quantum or quantum field theory concept of a complex wave function is useful for understanding the information transport in classical statistical generalized Ising models.

A Knowledge‐Based Approach for Understanding and Managing Additive Manufacturing Data

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Additive manufacturing processes generate a large amount of data. Effectively managing, understanding, and retrieving information from this data remains a major challenge. Therefore, we propose an ontology‐based approach to integrate heterogeneous data, enable semantic queries, and support decision‐making.

On Semi-Vector Spaces and Semi-Algebras with Applications in Fuzzy Automata

open access: yesAxioms
In this paper, we expand the theory of semi-vector spaces and semi-algebras, both over the semi-field of nonnegative real numbers R0+. More precisely, we prove several new results concerning these theories.

Robust Spot Melting by 3D Spot Arrangements in Electron Beam Powder Bed Fusion

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This work proposes an approach to replace separately melted contours for spot melting in electron beam powder fusion. Adapting the spot arrangements close to the contour combined with stacking yields a comparable surface quality without the inherent challenges of separate contours, as demonstrated, by electron optical images and roughness measurements.

P-Recursive Integer Sequences and Automata Theory [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
An integer sequence {a n } is called polynomially recursive, or P-recursive, if it satisfies a nontrivial linear recurrence relation of the formq_0(n)a_n + q_1(n)a_{n−1} + . . . + q_k(n)a_{n−k} = 0 ,for some q_i(x) ∈ Z[x], 0 ≤ i ≤ k.

Specification and recognition of service trust behaviors

open access: yesKuwait Journal of Science, 2020
We propose in this paper a new approach for the specification and recognition of service trust behaviors through the so-called trust patterns, which denote typical trust behaviors.

Simulating Weighted Automata over Sequences and Trees with Transformers

open access: yesCoRR
Transformers are ubiquitous models in the natural language processing (NLP) community and have shown impressive empirical successes in the past few years. However, little is understood about how they reason and the limits of their computational capabilities. These models do not process data sequentially, and yet outperform sequential neural models such

Symbolic Regression and Multi‐Objective Optimization of the Flory–Huggins Interaction Parameter for Hydrogels

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
We develop a data‐driven method to derive the mathematical expressions of the Flory–Huggins interaction parameter χ for the swelling behavior of temperature–responsive hydrogels. Starting from initial assumptions of χ, our workflow combines Bayesian optimization, Flory–Rehner theory, and symbolic regression to generate candidate χ expressions.

Reinterpreting and Extending Anatol Vieru’s Periodic Sequences Through the Cellular Automata Formalisms

open access: yes, 2019
International audienceIn this paper we focus on Anatol Vieru's periodic sequences that we approach with the formalism of the theory of cellular automata.
