Binomial Representation of Cryptographic Binary Sequences and Its Relation to Cellular Automata

open access: yesComplexity, 2019
The binomial sequences are binary sequences that correspond to the diagonals of the binary Sierpinski’s triangle. They have fancy properties such that all the sequences with period equal to a power of 2 can be represented as the sum of a finite set of ...

Secure VM management with strong user binding in semi-trusted clouds

open access: yesJournal of Cloud Computing: Advances, Systems and Applications, 2020
In Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) clouds, remote users access provided virtual machines (VMs) via the management server. The management server is managed by cloud operators, but not all the cloud operators are trusted in semi-trusted clouds. They can

A Novel Two-Dimensional Dynamic Pseudo-Random Coupled Map Lattices System Based on Partitioned Elementary Cellular Automata

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2022
This paper proposes a novel spatiotemporal chaotic system with two-dimensional dynamic pseudo-random coupled map lattices (2D-DPRCML) based on partitioned elementary cellular automata (PECA). In the system iteration, coupling lattices are chosen based on

Hippo pathway at the crossroads of stemness and therapeutic resistance in breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dysregulation of the Hippo pathway drives nuclear accumulation of YAP/TAZ, activating stemness‐related transcriptional programs that sustain breast cancer stemness and fuel therapeutic resistance across subtypes, underscoring Hippo signaling as a targetable vulnerability. Figure created and edited with BioRender.com.

Incremental evolution of cellular automata for random number generation

open access: yes, 2003
Cellular automata (CA) have been used in pseudorandom number generation for over a decade. Recent studies show that controllable CA (CCA) can generate better random sequences than conventional one-dimensional (1-d) CA and compete with two-dimensional (2 ...

Sequences of Preimages in Elementary Cellular Automata

open access: yesComplex Systems, 2003
Regularities are searched for in the sequences of numbers of preimages for elementary cellular automata (CA). For 46 out of 88 "minimal" rules, recognizable patterns are found, usually in the form of second order recurrence equations with constant coefficients.

CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.

CD47 promotes mitogen‐activated protein kinase and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition molecular programs to drive prometastatic phenotypes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.

Interpreting the effects of DNA polymerase variants at the structural level

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using MAVISp and molecular dynamics simulations, we analyzed over 60 000 missense variants in POLE and POLD1 from ClinVar, COSMIC, cBioPortal, and saturation mutagenesis. Identified mechanistic indicators, including stability, binding, and long‐range, enable structural interpretation, providing ACMG‐like evidence for possible reclassification of VUS ...

Designing and fabricating mechanical automata from mocap sequences [PDF]

open access: yesACM Transactions on Graphics, 2013
Mechanical figures that mimic human motions continue to entertain us and capture our imagination. Creating such automata requires expertise in motion planning, knowledge of mechanism design, and familiarity with fabrication constraints. Thus, automaton design remains restricted to only a handful of experts.
