Connections to automatic continuity

2000
Abstract The theory of automatic continuity deals with the extent to which certain algebraic conditions on linear mappings imply their continuity. Typical results in this theory establish the continuity of all multiplicative linear functionals on Banach algebras and of all positive linear operators on Banach lattices.

An Inexpensive Apparatus for Automatic Continuous Dehydration

Stain Technology, 1987
An apparatus is described for automatic dehydration of material using the principle of continuous dilution. Specimens may be dehydrated, in a period chosen by the operator, for as little as 30 min to as much as 16 hr (overnight). The apparatus is inexpensive both to construct and to run.

Automatic segmentation of continuous speech signals

ICASSP '86. IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing, 1985
A statistical approach of the automatic segmentation of the speech signal is discussed. The purpose is to detect acoustic events which reveal articulatory changes as voice or frication onset and termination, closure, release... and formantic variations.

Automatic optimization by continuous perturbation of parameters

Automatica, 1963
The problem considered is that of automatically adjusting the parameters of a process to achieve optimum steady state operation. An analysis is made of the dynamics of the feedback loop which controls the parameter setting. It is shown that perturbation frequencies approaching the bandwith limits of the process can be employed under certain conditions.

Robust, Automatic, Continuous Velocity Analysis

1st EAGE North African/Mediterranean Petroleum & Geosciences Conference & Exhibition, 2003
T013 ROBUST AUTOMATIC CONTINUOUS VELOCITY ANALYSIS Abstract 1 Velocity analysis is one of the key steps in the processing of seismic data. Accurate velocities give rise to an optimal stack response improved reliability of AVO attributes and can also be used as a predictor of geopressure.

Automatic continuous smoothing

Advances and Applications in Statistics, 2003
Summary: This paper proposes an efficient method for automatic continuous smoothing, which is based on the determination of the trade-off between the goodness of fit and the danger of over-fitting. The usefulness of this method is demonstrated by applying it to economic time series.

Automatic Continuity Theory

2001
Abstract In this final chapter, we turn to the substantive automatic continuity theory of homomorphisms and derivations from Banach algebras. We shall obtain many positive results, and we shall also construct various discontinuous homomorphisms and derivations that show the limits of our positive theorems.
