River Detection in Remotely Sensed Imagery Using Gabor Filtering and Path Opening

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2015
Detecting rivers from remotely sensed imagery is an initial yet important step in space-based river studies. This paper proposes an automatic approach to enhance and detect complete river networks.

Fault detection by skeleton extraction based on orientation field consistency.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2022
A fault detection method using skeleton extraction based on orientation field consistency is proposed to improve the efficiency of fault detection, reduce the influence of transverse nonstructural factors on fault detection, and realize automatic fault ...

On preservation of automatic continuity [PDF]

open access: yesMonatshefte für Mathematik, 2019
A group $G$ is called automatically continuous if any homomorphism from a completely metrizable or locally compact Hausdorff group to $G$ has open kernel. In this paper, we study preservation of automatic continuity under group-theoretic constructions, focusing mainly on groups of size less than continuum.

PYCR1 inhibition in bone marrow stromal cells enhances bortezomib sensitivity in multiple myeloma cells by altering their metabolism

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study investigated how PYCR1 inhibition in bone marrow stromal cells (BMSCs) indirectly affects multiple myeloma (MM) cell metabolism and viability. Culturing MM cells in conditioned medium from PYCR1‐silenced BMSCs impaired oxidative phosphorylation and increased sensitivity to bortezomib.

TITAN automatic spatial quality control of meteorological in-situ observations [PDF]

open access: yesAdvances in Science and Research, 2020
In science, poor quality input data will invariably lead to faulty conclusions, as in the spirit of the saying “garbage in, garbage out”. Atmospheric sciences make no exception and correct data is crucial to obtain a useful representation of the real ...

Tumor and germline testing with next generation sequencing in epithelial ovarian cancer: a prospective paired comparison using an 18‐gene panel

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Genetic testing in epithelial ovarian cancer includes both germline and tumor‐testing. This approach often duplicates resources. The current prospective study assessed the feasibility of tumor‐first multigene testing by comparing tumor tissue with germline testing of peripheral blood using an 18‐gene NGS panel in 106 patients.

Developing evidence‐based, cost‐effective P4 cancer medicine for driving innovation in prevention, therapeutics, patient care and reducing healthcare inequalities

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The cancer problem is increasing globally with projections up to the year 2050 showing unfavourable outcomes in terms of incidence and cancer‐related deaths. The main challenges are prevention, improved therapeutics resulting in increased cure rates and enhanced health‐related quality of life.

A Multiagent System for Edge Detection and Continuity Perception on Fish Otolith Images

open access: yesEURASIP Journal on Advances in Signal Processing, 2002
We present an algorithm for fish otolith growth ring detection using a multiagent system. Up to now, the identification of growth rings, for age estimation, is routinely achieved by human readers, but this task is tedious and depends on the reader ...

Automatic Horizon Picking Using Multiple Seismic Attributes and Markov Decision Process

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2023
Picking the reflection horizon is an important step in velocity inversion and seismic interpretation. Manual picking is time-consuming and no longer suitable for current large-scale seismic data processing.
