A Survey on Machine Learning Approaches for Automatic Detection of Voice Disorders.
Journal of Voice, 2019The human voice production system is an intricate biological device capable of modulating pitch and loudness. Inherent internal and/or external factors often damage the vocal folds and result in some change of voice.

Automatic mispronunciation detection for Mandarin
2008 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing, 2008This paper presents the methods to improve the performance of mispronunciation detection at syllable level for Mandarin from two aspects: proposing scaled log-posterior probability (SLPP) and weighted phone SLPP to get the better measure of pronunciation quality; introducing speaker normalization of speaker adaptive training (SAT) and speaker ...

Semi-automatic detection of buried rebar in GPR data using a genetic algorithm
Automation in Construction, 2020This paper proposes a new method for semi-automatic detection of buried rebar in ground penetrating radar (GPR) data based on searching the reflected waveform of target by the genetic algorithm, which aims to overcome the inefficiency and instability of ...

Automatic detection of handwriting forgery
Proceedings Eighth International Workshop on Frontiers in Handwriting Recognition, 2003We investigated the detection of handwriting forgery by both human and machine. We obtained experimental handwriting data from subjects writing samples in their natural style and writing forgeries of other subjects' handwriting. These handwriting samples were digitally scanned and stored in an image database.

Automatic baggage detection and classification
2011 11th International Conference on Intelligent Systems Design and Applications, 2011In this paper we propose an enhanced approach to automatic baggage detection in CCTV video footage that addresses some of the shortcomings of state-of-the-art algorithms and a novel approach to the subsequent recognition of their type. The proposed approach consists of standard steps used in baggage detection, namely, the estimation of moving direction

Automatic Detection of Sentence Fragments
Proceedings of the 53rd Annual Meeting of the Association for Computational Linguistics and the 7th International Joint Conference on Natural Language Processing (Volume 2: Short Papers), 2015We present and evaluate a method for automatically detecting sentence fragments in English texts written by non-native speakers. Our method combines syntactic parse tree patterns and parts-of-speech information produced by a tagger to detect this phenomenon. When evaluated on a corpus of authentic learner texts, our best model achieved a precision of 0.

Automatic detection of welding defects
International Journal of Reasoning-based Intelligent Systems, 2011A new approach for the automatic detection of welding defects in digital images (X-ray or photos) is presented in this paper. Various algorithms used in the consecutive stages of the image processing – permitting the successful detection of different kinds of defects and ensuring high accuracy – are described. The method is suitable for the analysis of

Automatic Difficulty Detection
2014Previous work has suggested that the productivity of developers increases when they help each other and as distance increases, help is offered less. One way to make the amount of help independent of distance is to develop a system that automatically determines and communicates developers' difficulty. It is our thesis that automatic difficulty detection
