Extended High-Gain Observers as Disturbance Estimators

open access: yesSICE Journal of Control, Measurement, and System Integration, 2017
This paper reviews recent results on the use of extended high-gain observers as disturbance estimators. It shows how the use of these observers enables recovering the performance of feedback linearization controllers.

Automatic annotation of the Penn-treebank with LFG f-structure information [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
Lexical-Functional Grammar f-structures are abstract syntactic representations approximating basic predicate-argument structure. Treebanks annotated with f-structure information are required as training resources for stochastic versions of unification ...

Next‐Generation Bio‐Reducible Lipids Enable Enhanced Vaccine Efficacy in Malaria and Primate Models

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Structure–activity relationship (SAR) optimization of bio‐reducible ionizable lipids enables the development of highly effective lipid nanoparticle (LNP) mRNA vaccines. Lead LNPs show superior tolerability and antibody responses in rodents and primates, outperforming approved COVID‐19 vaccine lipids.

Evaluation of Grasping Accuracy When Using a Passive Force Display Glove

open access: yesSICE Journal of Control, Measurement, and System Integration, 2017
In virtual reality (VR) technology, force feedback/display devices are expected to enhance fine sensation and contribute to the user's immersive experience. This is particularly true for glove-type devices. Force display gloves, however, do not have

Minding the Gap: Bias, Soft Structures, and the Double Life of Social Norms [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
We argue that work on norms provides a way to move beyond debates between proponents of individualist and structuralist approaches to bias, oppression, and injustice. We briefly map out the geography of that debate before presenting Charlotte Witt’s view,

CRISPR/Cas9‐Assisted Microrobots for Fast and Ultrasensitive “On‐The‐Fly” Next‐Generation DNA Detection

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work presents self‐propelled CRISPR/Cas9‐functionalized Au–MRs for rapid, amplification‐free, “on‐the‐fly” DNA detection. By harnessing motion‐assisted signal recovery, the platform achieved the limit of detection in low fM DNA concentrations, enabling detection across a wide dynamic range within only 5 min, which is significantly faster than any ...
