Cross-Layer Path Configuration for Energy-Efficient Communication over Wireless Ad Hoc Networks

open access: yesAdvances in Multimedia, 2007
We study the energy-efficient configuration of multihop paths with automatic repeat request (ARQ) mechanism in wireless ad hoc networks. We adopt a cross-layer design approach and take both the quality of each radio hop and the battery capacity of each ...

Integrated FEC, Interleaving, ARQ, and Adaptive Modulation for Long-Distance Maritime Communication Systems: Design and Analysis

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal
Free-space optical communication (FSO) has been a popular research area due to its high bandwidth and ease of deployment. However, the performance of long-distance FSO system is often compromised by atmospheric turbulence. To address this challenge, this

On Reliable Transmission of Data over Simple Wireless Channels

open access: yesJournal of Computer Systems, Networks, and Communications, 2009
Standard protocols for reliable data transmission over unreliable channels are based on various Automatic Repeat reQuest (ARQ) schemes, whereby the sending node receives feedback from the receiver and retransmits the missing data.

Evaluation of Packet Transfer Delivery Timeouts During Packet Transmission Using the DA-ARQ (Delay-Aware Automatic Repeat Request) Methodology

open access: yesJournal of Information Systems Engineering and Management
DA-ARQ is adaptive and dynamic; it can change the rate of retransmission in dependence on receiver feedback and network state. This might result in additional reliable retransmissions with increased efficiency and reduced latency. DA-ARQ adjusts its timeout duration and retransmission rate utilizing feedback mechanisms like ACKs and NACKs.

FL-DA-ARQ: A FEDERATED LEARNING FRAMEWORK FOR DELAY-AWARE AUTOMATIC REPEAT REQUEST IN DISTRIBUTED PACKET TRANSMISSION AND TIMEOUT PERFORMANCE EVALUATION

open access: yesInternational Journal of Applied Mathematics
Automatic Repeat Request (ARQ) protocols play a very important role in the reliable transmission of packets, but have the disadvantage of causing increased latency and retransmission overheads in both heterogeneous and distributed networks. Current delay-aware ARQ (DA-ARQ) models optimize strategies of timeouts and retransmission on a local basis ...

Network coding-based cooperative ARQ scheme

open access: yes, 2011
—In this paper we introduce a novel Automatic Repeat reQuest (ARQ) scheme for cooperative wireless networks. Our scheme adopts network coding techniques in order to enhance the total bandwidth of the network by minimizing the total number of ...
