Automatic Transmission Systems
1991An automatic transmission system fulfils exactly the same requirements as a manual transmission in that it: (a) Multiplies engine torque to suit varying load and speed requirements. (b) Provides a means of travelling the vehicle. (c) Provides a patmanent position of neutral.

Intelligent Controlled Automatic Transmission
IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1993Abstract The intelligent controlled automatic transmission is the advanced system that can detect the driving environments such as mountainous roads and highways. And this system automatically selects a gear shift pattern suitable for that driving situation. Fuzzy reasoning method is applied to detect the driving environments.

Optimal control problem for an automatic transmission
Journal of Optimization Theory and Applications, 1984Attention is given to the control-theoretic aspects of the operation of an automatic transmission for a road vehicle. A differential game model for vehicle control is presented and analyzed; furthermore, the approach leads to a synthesis of the optimal feedback strategy for the selection of the transmission ratio of the automatic gearbox.
