Automatic Change of the Stator-Winding Connection of Variable-Load Three-Phase Induction Motors to Improve the Efficiency and Power Factor

2005 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology, 2006
Most oversized three-phase induction motors operate with low efficiency and power factor, which is by far the most important cause of poor power factor in industrial installations. In the low-load operating periods, motor performance can be improved both in terms of efficiency and power factor through stator-winding connection change from delta to star.

92% High Efficiency and Low Current Mismatch Interleaving Power Factor Correction Controller With Variable Sampling Slope and Automatic Loading Detection Techniques

IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics, 2013
This paper proposes the dual nondeadtime variable sampling slope technique to carry out precise phase sensing and suppress phase error in interleaving power factor correction (PFC) controller over a whole ac switching cycle for low current mismatch. Furthermore, the proposed automatic loading detection (ALD) technique can keep efficiency higher than 92%
