Novel attentional gait index reveals a cognitive ability-related decline in gait automaticity during dual-task walking

open access: yesFrontiers in Aging Neuroscience
IntroductionGait automaticity refers to the ability to walk with minimal recruitment of attentional networks typically mediated through the prefrontal cortex (PFC).

Is rapid automatized naming automatic?

open access: yesPreschool and Primary Education, 2013
According to Segalowitz and Segalowitz (1993), a process becomes automatic when the mean response time, its standard deviation, and the coefficient of variation (standard deviation/mean response time) decrease across time. To examine whether rapid automatized naming (RAN) reflects automatic processing, we retrospectively traced the development of RAN ...

Experience With Performing Rheocarna Therapy via the Single‐Needle Method for Treatment of Chronic Limb‐Threatening Ischemia

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction This study investigated the safety and efficacy of single‐needle Rheocarna therapy for chronic limb‐threatening ischemia (CLTI) with wounds. Methods Six patients with CLTI involving ulcers unresponsive to revascularization underwent single‐needle Rheocarna treatment.

Translation and cultural adaptation of the HELPS Reading Fluency Program into Brazilian Portuguese: A report of systematic adaptation processes and initial evidence of efficacy

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology, 2023
IntroductionAcross multiples languages, research demonstrates the important relationship between reading fluency and comprehension. Put simply, a fluent reader has greater attention and memory resources to use higher-order functions in reading, resulting

The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.

The role of self-regulatory skills and automaticity on the effectiveness of a brief weight loss habit-based intervention: secondary analysis of the 10 top tips randomised trial

open access: yesInternational Journal of Behavioral Nutrition and Physical Activity, 2017
Background Habit-interventions are designed to promote the automaticity of healthy behaviours and may also enhance self-regulatory skills during the habit-formation process.

Deep learning‐based identification of sinoatrial node‐like pacemaker cells from SHOX2/HCN4 double‐positive cells differentiated from human iPS cells

open access: yesJournal of Arrhythmia, 2023
Background Cardiomyocytes derived from human iPS cells (hiPSCs) include cells showing SAN‐ and non‐SAN‐type spontaneous APs. Objectives To examine whether the deep learning technology could identify hiPSC‐derived SAN‐like cells showing SAN‐type‐APs by ...

Septin 9 PB domains coordinate centrosome positioning and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Septin 9 polybasic domains couple phosphoinositide‐rich membrane binding to centrosome positioning, Golgi organization, and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity. Their loss disrupts this axis, causing centrosome mispositioning, Golgi fragmentation, reduced microtubule acetylation, and polarity inversion via upregulation of the ...

Automated Symbolic Orienting: The missing link

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology, 2012
Attention can be controlled either exogenously, driven by the stimulus features, or endogenously, driven by the internal expectancies about events in the environment.
