Neurodevelopmental Alterations in Inhibitory Interneurons of Cortex, Hippocampus, and Striatum of Genetic Absence Epilepsy Rats

open access: yesCNS Neuroscience &Therapeutics, Volume 32, Issue 9, September 2026.
Schematic conceptual model illustrating the proposed temporally distinct contributions of cortical interneuron populations to absence seizure maturation in GAERS shown within thalamocortical loop (VPM–TRN–cortex). Early PV+ interneuron upregulation primes cortical networks for SWD initiation, while later SST+ interneuron increases in M1 cortex ...

Deletion of Astrocytic TNFR1 Attenuates Hyperexcitability and Initiation of Epileptogenesis

open access: yesGlia, Volume 74, Issue 9, September 2026.
Inducible, astrocyte‐specific deletion of TNFR1 reduces basal EEG spectral power. Loss of astrocytic TNFR1 attenuates acute seizure activity in two distinct experimental models of epilepsy. Deletion of TNFR1 in astrocytes limits epilepsy development and hippocampal pathology in a mouse model of temporal lobe epilepsy with hippocampal sclerosis ...
