Gamma suppression correlates with thalamic stimulation therapeutic response in intractable epilepsy
Abstract Objective In patients with drug‐resistant epilepsy who undergo anterior nucleus of the thalamus (ANT) deep brain stimulation (DBS), efficacy is assessed months after therapy initiation and clinicians have no guidance when choosing stimulation parameters due to the lack of real‐time biomarkers.

Seizure forecasting: The long and winding road to clinical translation
Abstract Seizure forecasting has progressed from theoretical aspiration to a rapidly advancing research domain, yet clinical translation remains limited. Over the past decades, advances in algorithm development, chronic electroencephalography (EEG), wearable sensors, and the characterization of seizure cycles have demonstrated that seizure risk is not ...

It has now been 50 years since the publication of Luhn’s seminal paper on automatic summarization. During these years the practical need for automatic summarization has become increasingly urgent and numerous papers have been published on the topic. As a result, it has become harder to find a single reference that gives an overview of past efforts or a

Oligogenic inheritance in epilepsy: A systematic exome‐wide analysis
Abstract Objective Genetic factors contribute to the majority of epilepsies, but the exact genetic cause remains unknown in most patients. Incomplete penetrance and variable expressivity are frequent, and recent studies showed a burden of deleterious variants in epilepsy genes, suggesting a role for oligogenic inheritance.

Electroclinical features and dynamic network connectivity of orbitofrontal epilepsy
Abstract Objective Orbitofrontal epilepsy (OFE) is rare and underrecognized. This study aims to characterize electroclinical features and dynamic network connectivity of OFE and subtypes. Methods We retrospectively analyzed 17 patients with OFE who underwent stereoelectroencephalographic (SEEG) electrode implantation and epilepsy surgery at our center.

Automatism Re-Visited: Post-Traumatic Automatism as a Defence to a Serious Criminal Charge
A case is described of a policeman who assaulted the man he was arresting after receiving a concussive blow to the head. The defence argued he was suffering from post-traumatic automatism and after juries were unable to agree a verdict in two trials he ...

Abstract Absence seizures evolving to bilateral tonic–clonic seizures may have focal or asymmetric clinical features. Using quantitative electroencephalography (EEG) may evaluate this phenomenon and the involved neuronal network. We conducted a retrospective chart review of pediatric patients with generalized epilepsy and normal brain magnetic ...
