Assembled camshafts for automotive engines

Journal of Materials Shaping Technology, 1989
Assembled camshafts offer an attractive manufacturing alternative over conventional methods to meet the demand for high performance camshafts at reduced costs. The manufacture of camshafts has traditionally involved the casting, forging, or machining of a rough blank which was further machined to the finished cam geometry.

Tribological Aspects of Automotive Engines

2019
There is tremendous requirement for development of compact and fuel efficient automotive engines with reduced emissions. From tribological point of view, automotive engine components such as piston assembly, bearings and valve trains are lubricated and their surface behaviors have been extensively studied.

Challenges in automotive software engineering

Proceedings of the 28th international conference on Software engineering, 2006
The amount of software in cars grows exponentially. Driving forces of this development are cheaper and more powerful hardware and the demand for innovations by new functions. The rapid increase of software and software based functionality brings various challenges (see [21], [23], [25], [26]) for the automotive industries, for their organization, key ...

Exhaust Mufflers for Automotive Engines

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1934
The important frequencies encountered in the exhaust noise of an automotive engine are discussed and the means described by which these frequencies are attenuated. An analysis is made of the baffle muffler as compared to the direct flow absorption and resonator type of muffler.

Problems of turbocharging of automotive engines

1978
As mentioned in section 2.3, the supercharging of spark ignition aero-engines was already highly advanced at the time when they were superseded by the gas turbine. During and after World War I, the engines were mechanically supercharged, around World War II exhaust turbocharged.
