Linalool attenuated ischemic injury in PC12 cells through inhibition of caspase‐3 and caspase‐9 during apoptosis

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 11, Issue 1, Page 249-260, January 2023., 2023
This study indicated, for the first time, that (±) linalool and its enantiomer, (R)‐(‐) linalool protected PC12 cells against injury induced by oxygen and glucose deprivation/reoxygenation (OGD/R) via the mitigation of oxidative stress and the downregulation of Bax/Bcl‐2, caspase‐3 and caspase‐9, resulting in decreased apoptotic cell death.

Implementing physician‐led medication reviews for patients with diabetes and severe mental disorder: A randomized controlled trial

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Aims Patients with severe mental disorder and diabetes may be exposed to inappropriate polypharmacy increasing the risk of side effects and drug interactions. Although medication reviews may facilitate short‐term deprescribing, they are not known to affect clinical outcomes.

Evaluation of the acute toxicity and 28‐days subacute toxicity of the alcoholic extract from Ganoderma leucocontextum

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 11, Issue 1, Page 434-442, January 2023., 2023
The toxicity of Ganoderma leucocontextum was evaluated for the first time. No toxicological changes were found in acute and subacute toxicity test. Ganoderma leucocontextum showed a good safety profile in animal study. Abstract Ganoderma leucocontextum is a well‐known traditional medicine in Tibet Autonomous Region, which has benefits, such as anti ...

Autonomic nervous system tone condition in gastric diseases

open access: yesKazan medical journal, 1927
Studying vegetative nervous system in patients with various diseases of internal organs, we, by the way, paid attention also to its condition in gastric patients. It was interesting for us to check results of researches of other authors in this direction and also to trace connection of vegetative nervous system with types of gastric cell secretion in ...

CuATSM effectively ameliorates ALS patient astrocyte‐mediated motor neuron toxicity in human in vitro models of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis

open access: yesGlia, Volume 71, Issue 2, Page 350-365, February 2023., 2023
Main Points The clinical stage drug CuATSM normalizes aberrant metabolic phenotypes of ALS astrocytes and restores support towards neurons. Patient samples could be stratified based on this phenotype, indicating that the model system might support clinical trial result interpretation or design.

Mitochondria and Endoplasmic Reticulum Contact Site as a Regulator of Proteostatic Stress Responses in Neurodegenerative Diseases

open access: yesBioEssays, EarlyView.
Recent findings indicate that mitochondria‐associated membranes (MAMs), where the endoplasmic reticulum directly contacts the mitochondria, are a novel microdomain essential for cellular homeostasis, including proteostasis. We summarize the disruption of protein homeostasis and MAM alteration in neurodegenerative diseases, then discuss challenges and ...
