Nonlinear optimal control for autonomous surface vessels
AIP Conference Proceedings, 2023The ability of unmanned surface vessels for performing dexterous maneuvering is important for improving vessels' safety, reliability and operational capacity. The article proposes a nonlinear optimal control approach for unmanned surface vessels. These vessels exhibit three degrees of freedom while their dynamic model can be formulated in analogy to ...

Consensus of autonomous underactuated surface vessels
2016 American Control Conference (ACC), 2016This paper is concerned with the distributed consensus problem of multiple underactuated surface vessels, where the number of the vehicles actuators is fewer than the vehicles degrees of freedom. To cope with the coupling of unactuated and actuated states, a state transformation is proposed to change the format of the system to a cascade nonlinear ...

ERON: A flexible autonomous surface vessel
2016 24th Mediterranean Conference on Control and Automation (MED), 2016Aquatic unmanned robotic systems have gained popularity due to their abilities to perform a wide range of applications at low cost and no risk to human lives. This research investigates the development of the navigation system of “HPΩN”, an Autonomous Surface Vehicle (ASV). The PID control system composed of 3 Arduino UNO boards, a GPS, a Compass and 4

Cluster Space Control of Autonomous Surface Vessels
Marine Technology Society Journal, 2009AbstractMulti-robot systems offer many advantages over a single-robot system, including redundancy, coverage and flexibility. One of the key technical considerations in fielding multi-robot systems for real-world applications is the coordination of the individual units.

Micro Autonomous Surface Vessels – Opportunities and Development
SNAME Maritime Convention and 5th World Maritime Technology Conference, 2015In this paper, we develop a set of design principles for micro ASV systems, defined as surface vessels less than eight feet long with a weight of less than 102 lbs, fully loaded. We outline the key properties of micro ASV systems, discuss potential missions for such devices, and address key concepts in vessel design and cooperative control of groups of

River navigation system using Autonomous Surface Vessel
2016 IEEE International Conference on Underwater System Technology: Theory and Applications (USYS), 2016This paper presents a navigation system for an Autonomous Surface Vessel (ASV) capable of maneuvering in riverine environments. A real time vision-based navigation system is used for ASV to travel along the river. The ASV is equipped with propeller and rudder to control the speed and heading direction, respectively.
