A Robotic Excavator for Autonomous Truck Loading
Autonomous Robots, 1999Excavators are used for the rapid removal of soil and other materials in mines, quarries, and construction sites. The automation of these machines offers promise for increasing productivity and improving safety. To date, most research in this area has focussed on selected parts of the problem.

Perceptions of Fully Autonomous Freight Trucks
SSRN Electronic Journal, 2017Long-standing truck driver shortages in the US freight transportation trucking industry could be relieved by the use of autonomous freight trucks, but realizing that potential requires access to and sharing of the roadway infrastructure with other drivers. Prior research has focused on consumer perceptions of personal autonomous automobiles rather than

Transport Companies, Truck Drivers, and the Notion of Semi-Autonomous Trucks
Proceedings of the 9th International Conference on Automotive User Interfaces and Interactive Vehicular Applications Adjunct, 2017Semi-autonomous driving is considered a particularly promising approach for truck drivers, as this special driver group spends almost their entire working time in a moving vehicle. Semi-autonomous driving could add to increased driving safety and relief of the truck driver.

Optical Truck Tracking for Autonomous Platooning
2015Platooning applications require precise knowledge about position and orientation pose of the leading vehicle. We present an optical solution for a robust pose estimation using artificial markers and a camera as the only sensor. Temporal coherence of image sequences is used in a Kalman filter to obtain precise estimates.

Systems Integration, Simulation, and Control for Autonomous Trucking
2020 IEEE Intelligent Vehicles Symposium (IV), 2020This paper discusses a platform both in simulation and experimentation for testing autonomous heavy trucking. In simulation, we present a novel use of the video game American Truck Simulator (ATS) as the simulation platform, only costing a fraction of commercial simulator software. In experimentation, we present a modified ProStar 122+ using the PACMod

An Autonomic System for Intelligent Truck Parking
Proceedings of the 11th International Conference on Informatics in Control, Automation and Robotics, 2014Traffic and road transport conditions are strongly influenced by the decisions of drivers. The more information they receive, the better decisions may be taken about their behavior. This is especially important in the transport of goods, since drivers are subject to traffic laws about maximum driving time and minimum time rest.

The Truck of the Future: Autonomous and Connected Driving at Daimler Trucks
SAE Technical Paper Series, 2017<div class="section abstract"><div class="htmlview paragraph">Due to the continuous increasing highway transport and the decreasing investments into infrastructure a better usage of the installed infrastructure is indispensable. Therefore the operation and interoperation of assistance and telematics systems become more and more necessary ...

Module Used in Robotaxi and Autonomous Truck Applications
2020 IEEE 70th Electronic Components and Technology Conference (ECTC), 2020This paper describes methodologies on how to enhance solder joint reliability in electronic automotive modules to meet harsh field environments. The reliability enhancement of a QFN component has been investigated and results are presented. The first step is to optimize the PCBpad including dividing center pad areas underneath the package.

Mine Planning and Selection of Autonomous Trucks
2019Autonomous trucks achieve greater productivities (up to 30%), and do so with reduced fuel, maintenance and tyre wear. This is in addition to the lower costs for personnel, offset by costs of communication networks and control room operators.

Line following control of an autonomous truck-trailer
2017 International Conference on Robotics, Biomimetics, and Intelligent Computational Systems (Robionetics), 2017This paper presents the line following control of a truck-trailer. The control architecture of the truck-trailer is also proposed. To cope with the autonomous application of the truck-trailer the kinematics of truck-trailer is derived and the mapping of the control actuators in the head-truck which are the steering angle and the traction to the posture
