Background MYO15A variants are responsible for human non-syndromic autosomal recessive deafness (DFNB3). The majority of MYO15A variants are associated with a congenital severe-to-profound hearing loss phenotype, except for MYO15A variants in exon 2 ...

ABSTRACT Background Whole exome sequencing (WES) has improved diagnostic rates for neurodevelopmental disorders (NDDs) while introducing challenges in novel variant interpretation. DHX30‐related NDD (DHX30‐NDD) is a recently described condition with an evolving phenotypic spectrum.

Novel MYO15A variants are associated with hearing loss in the two Iranian pedigrees
Background Clinical genetic diagnosis of non-syndromic hearing loss (NSHL) is quite challenging. With regard to its high heterogeneity as well as large size of some genes, it is also really difficult to detect causative mutations using traditional ...

Genetic linkage analysis of DFNB7/11 locus in patients with autosomal recessive non syndromic hearing loss from Hamedan province [PDF]
Background and aims: Hearing loss is a most common sensory deficit in humans. The hearing loss may be conductive, sensorineural, or mixed (syndromic or nonsyndromic), prelingual or postlingual.

Abstract Sarcopenia and frailty are complex geriatric syndromes influenced by a combination of genetic and environmental factors. Recent studies suggest that specific genetic variants, DNA methylation patterns and shortened telomeres are associated with age‐related diseases and might contribute to the development of both sarcopenia and frailty. In this

Pitfalls in diagnosing and long‐term management of ceroid lipofuscinosis NCL4A in a mixed‐breed dog
Abstract An 8‐year‐old, spayed, female, mixed‐breed dog was presented with a 9‐month history of occasionally stumbling on walks, having difficulty navigating stairs and jumping into the car. A prior computed tomography scan of the head revealed mild leptomeningeal enhancement and suggested meningoencephalitis.

Unraveling a Diagnostic Enigma: A TECPR2 Case Solved Through Multi‐Omic Genomics
ABSTRACT TECPR2 is a key regulator of autophagy, encoded by the TECPR2 gene. Pathogenic variants in this gene have been linked to a rare hereditary sensory and autonomic neuropathy with intellectual disability (HSAN9). We report a teenage female with a syndromic intellectual disability disorder associated with neuromuscular abnormalities.

Streamlining Diagnosis of Bardet–Biedl Syndrome: New Diagnostic Algorithm With Updated Criteria
ABSTRACT Considerable advances have been made in our understanding of Bardet–Biedl syndrome (BBS), particularly in its core clinical features and molecular genetics, warranting an update to the existing diagnostic criteria framework. Using a rigorous, evidence‐based, and consensus‐driven process, a multidisciplinary group of international experts and ...

ABSTRACT U2 small nuclear RNA auxiliary factor 2 (U2AF2) is an essential pre‐mRNA splicing factor involved in the early stages of pre‐mRNA splicing. To date, multiple individuals have been reported with predominantly heterozygous missense variants presenting intellectual disability, speech and motor delays, seizures, hypotonia, and thin or hypoplastic ...
