Triboelectric nanogenerators for vehicle intelligent cockpits
Converting mechanical stimuli from drivers and vehicle motion into electrical signals, triboelectric nanogenerators provide promising interfaces toward passive, flexible, distributed and intelligent sensing for next‐generation automotive cockpits to support three core functional dimensions: driver state monitoring, vehicle state monitoring, and human ...

Wrinkling instability of 3D auxetic bilayers in tension
Bilayers, soft substrates coated with stiff films, are commonly found in nature, with examples including skin tissue, vesicles, and organ membranes. They exhibit different types of instabilities when subjected to compression, depending on the contrast in

Optimization of Mechanical Properties of Multiphase Materials with Auxetic Phase. [PDF]
Auxetic materials and structures exhibit negative values of Poisson’s ratio, which is the source of their unusual deformation pattern. Auxetic materials can be utilized in the development of multiphase materials with increased Young’s modulus

Artificial structures for human‐machine interfaces with closed‐loop interaction
Artificial structures bridge sensing and feedback in closed‐loop human‐machine interfaces by providing geometry‐enabled mechanical and functional programmability. This review maps the role of artificial structures in diverse sensing modalities and feedback strategies, and illustrates their integration into closed‐loop interaction systems, highlighting ...

Introducing Auxetic Behavior to Syntactic Foams
This paper proposes an innovative multi-material approach for introducing auxetic behaviour to syntactic foams (SFs). By carefully designing the size, shape, and orientation of the SFs, auxetic deformation behaviour was induced. Re-entrant hexagon-shaped

The influence of porosity and infill pattern (architecture) on the mechanical and acoustic properties of FFF‐printed PLA is investigated. Ultrasonic analysis highlights the dominant role of interlayer porosity, revealing anisotropic behavior and a transition in elastic properties with increasing porosity.

This work presents a biofriendly carbon nanotube yarn artificial muscle operating either as an in‐air unipolar actuator or as a self‐powered ionotronic strain sensor. Using a non‐volatile eutectogel‐derived electrolyte, the system achieves up to 2.9% contraction and 0.5 mV/% strain sensing sensitivity.

The ballistic resistance of auxetic re‐entrant honeycomb structures can be significantly improved through geometric tailoring and structural reinforcement. Vertical and horizontal stiffening ribs enhanced the ballistic performance, increasing the energy absorption efficiency by 119.45% and the projectile velocity reduction by 281.36%, ultimately ...

Effect of heterogeneity on the elastic properties of auxetic materials [PDF]
Auxetic materials are gaining practical interest for their unusual and sometimes extreme mechanical response. The process of modeling these materials so far has highlighted a number of microstructural properties that are key to these materials.
