Hamiltonian formulation of curvature squared action [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
It has been observed earlier that, in principle, it is possible to obtain a quantum mechanical interpretation of higher order quantum cosmological models in the spatially homogeneous and isotropic background, if auxiliary variable required for the ...

LDAcoop: Integrating non‐linear population dynamics into the analysis of clonogenic growth in vitro

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Limiting dilution assays (LDAs) quantify clonogenic growth by seeding serial dilutions of cells and scoring wells for colony formation. The fraction of negative wells is plotted against cells seeded and analyzed using the non‐linear modeling of LDAcoop.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Interleaved Boost Converter with ZVT-ZCT for the Main Switches and ZCS for the Auxiliary Switch

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
A soft-switching interleaved topology is presented herein and applied to the boost converter. The basic operating principle is that the main power switches are turned on at zero voltage and turned off at zero current via the same auxiliary resonant ...

A remark on the BRST symmetry in the Gribov-Zwanziger theory

open access: yes, 2010
We show that the soft breaking of the BRST symmetry arising in the Gribov-Zwanziger theory can be converted into a linear breaking upon introduction of a set of BRST quartets of auxiliary fields. Due to its compatibility with the Quantum Action Principle,

Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 increases metastatic potential and aggressiveness in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...

Transmission Investment Coordination using MILP Lagrange Dual Decomposition and Auxiliary Problem Principle

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Energy Markets, Policy and Regulation, 2023
<p>This paper considers the investment coordination problem for the long term transmission capacity expansion in a situation where there are multiple regional Transmission Planners (TPs), each acting in order to maximize the utility in only its own region. In such a setting, any particular TP does not normally have any incentive to cooperate with

Duality for massive spin two theories in arbitrary dimensions

open access: yes, 2008
Using the parent Lagrangian approach we construct a dual formulation, in the sense originally proposed by Curtright and Freund, of a massive spin two Fierz-Pauli theory in arbitrary dimensions $D$. This is achieved in terms of a mixed symmetry tensor $T_{

RIPK4 function interferes with melanoma cell adhesion and metastasis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
RIPK4 promotes melanoma growth and spread. RIPK4 levels increase as skin lesions progress to melanoma. CRISPR/Cas9‐mediated deletion of RIPK4 causes melanoma cells to form less compact spheroids, reduces their migratory and invasive abilities and limits tumour growth and dissemination in mouse models.

Auxiliary Model Based Least Squares Iterative Algorithms for Parameter Estimation of Bilinear Systems Using Interval-Varying Measurements

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2018
This paper focuses on the parameter estimation of a class of bilinear systems, for which the input-output representation is derived by eliminating the state variables in the systems.
