Air monitoring for pollution by auxin-type herbicides

Chemosphere, 1992
Abstract No 2,4-D iso-octyl ester was detected during air monitoring actions in the Tala Valley, Natal during 1987/1988 in spite of general use of the herbicide by sugarcane farmers outside the legally restricted area. Various techniques, including high volume air sampling and refinement of analytical methodology, were investigated to detect the ...

Auxin‐mimic herbicides dilema: Their benefits and limitations

Pest Management Science
AbstractBACKGROUNDAuxinic herbicides have revolutionized weed control since their introduction in agriculture in 1945. In recent years, auxinic herbicides have become essential and cost‐effective weed management tools to control glyphosate‐resistant and other difficult‐to‐control weeds in soybean and cotton.

Calcium may mediate auxinic herbicide resistance in wild mustard

Weed Science, 2001
Abstract The role of calcium in mediating resistance to several auxinic herbicides (i.e., 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid, [4-chloro-2-methylphenoxy] acetic acid, (±)-2-(4-chloro-2-methylphenoxy) propanoic acid [mecoprop], 3,6-dichloro-2-methoxy-benzoic acid [dicamba], or 4-amino-3, 5,6-trichloro-2-pyridinecarboxylic acid [picloram]) was investigated by

EFFECT OF HERBICIDES APPLIED AFTER AN AUXINIC HERBICIDE FAILURE ON WATERHEMP AND PALMER AMARANTH

2023
Palmer amaranth (Amaranthus palmeri S. Watts) and waterhemp [Amaranthus tuberculatus (Moq.) J. D. Sauer] are two of the most troublesome weeds in U.S. soybean production and the auxin herbicides dicamba and 2,4-D, are currently used extensively for postemergence control of these species.

Auxin herbicides: current status of mechanism and mode of action

Pest Management Science, 2009
Abstract Synthetic compounds that act like phytohormonal ‘superauxins’ have been among the most successful herbicides used in agriculture for more than 60 years. These so‐called auxin herbicides are more stable in planta than the main natural auxin, indole‐3‐acetic acid (IAA)

Coadministration of Gibberellin and Auxin‐Type Herbicides on Sugarcane

Agronomy Journal, 1973
AbstractCombinations of gibberellic acid (GA) and 2‐methyl, 4‐chlorophenoxyacetic acid (MCPA) were applied to the foliage of greenhouse‐grown sugarcane (interspecific hybrids of Saccharum), as part of a program of screening potential ripening agents. GA induced the typical growth stimulation, lasting about 4 weeks in these trials.
