PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT AS A TOOL FOR PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT IN THE MANAGEMENT OF BUILT FACILITIES
Effective operation of functional built facilities required for the performance of the core functions of an organization demands the contextual use of the principle of listening to the voice of customers, through performance assessment, leading to ...

We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Family Foundation Philanthropy: report on the giving of the largest charitable family foundations in the US, the UK and the rest of Europe [PDF]
There are huge debates about whether we are witnessing a new era of great philanthropy, but sadly, few facts. It is this gap which Cathy Pharoah's research reported here aims to address. People give in many different ways, and the data available to us is

Testing the Copernican and Cosmological Principles in the local universe with galaxy surveys
Cosmological density fields are assumed to be translational and rotational invariant, avoiding any special point or direction, thus satisfying the Copernican Principle.

Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

HPoolGCL: Augmentation‐Free Cross‐Granularity Graph Contrastive Learning With Hierarchical Pooling
Graph contrastive learning (GCL) has emerged as a dominant paradigm for self‐supervised representation learning for attributed graph data. However, existing GCL methods heavily rely on empirical graph data augmentation, which may distort intrinsic graph ...

The Aspirations of Direct Aspiration for Thrombectomy in Ischemic Stroke: A Critical Analysis [PDF]
The treatment of acute ischemic stroke by mechanical thrombectomy has been revolutionary, however most of the clinical trials were done with the use a stent retriever.

Generalization of k.p theory for periodic perturbations
We extend standard k.p theory to take into account periodic perturbations which are rapidly oscillating with a wavelength of a few lattice constants. Our general formalism allows us to explicitly consider the Bragg reflections due to the perturbation ...
