Correlated Transient Response of Buried Cables and Lightning Channel Radiation of Return Strokes of Five Rocket‐Triggered Lightning Strikes

open access: yesHigh Voltage, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Data from five rocket‐triggered lightning flashes are adopted to analyse the correlated transient response of buried cables and lightning channel radiations. These five flashes have the same termination point that is right above the buried cables and involve a total of 32 return strokes.

Breakdown and Discharge Characteristics of High Repetition Frequency Nanosecond Pulsed Air Dielectric Barrier Discharge

open access: yesHigh Voltage, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study explores the breakdown characteristics and discharge modes in a parallel plate air dielectric barrier discharge system using repetitive nanosecond pulses, with pulse repetition frequencies (PRFs) from 0.1 to 100 kHz. It examines how pulse parameters—PRF, pulse number and gas pressure—affect the memory effect, leveraging current and ...

Time to Breakdown for Type I Motor Winding Insulation Under High‐Frequency High‐Slew‐Rate Square Wave Voltages

open access: yesHigh Voltage, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The emergence of (ultra)wide bandgap ((U)WBG)‐based devices has significantly enhanced performance in high‐frequency switching applications, enabling breakthroughs in electric transportation, aerospace, and renewable energy systems. However, it also presents considerable challenges to insulation systems, such as electric motor winding ...

FPGA‐accelerated streaming data reduction achieving an average compression ratio over 8000 in a 17.4 kHz, 840 kpixel CITIUS detector for quasi‐elastic gamma‐ray scattering

open access: yesJournal of Synchrotron Radiation, EarlyView.
A high‐throughput field‐programmable gate array (FPGA)‐accelerated data‐reduction and ‐analysis pipeline combined with high‐performance computing enables the continuous handling of a 216 Gbps data stream from quasi‐elastic gamma‐ray scattering experiments at SPring‐8.We present a data‐acquisition and ‐analysis framework for quasi‐elastic gamma‐ray ...

From Nominalisation to Passive in Old Tibetan: Reconstructing Grammatical Meaning in an Extinct Language1

open access: yesTransactions of the Philological Society, EarlyView.
Abstract Based on an analysis of the Old Literary Tibetan corpus—a corpus of the oldest documented Tibetic language—the present study provides evidence that literary Tibetan v3 verb stems (commonly termed ‘future’) initially encoded passive voice. New arguments put forward in this article range from Trans‐Himalayan nominal morphology to early Tibetan ...

(Dis)trust in Digital Insurance: How Datafied Practices Shift Uncertainties and Reconfigure Trust Relations

open access: yesThe British Journal of Sociology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Trust is both a prerequisite and a product of insurance, as insurance contracts are built on and create trust relations that enable a risk‐averse perspective towards the future. At the same time, insurer‐policyholder relationships are characterised by a persistent distrust, rooted in insurance economics and industry reputation. In this article,

Developing Predictive and Explainable Models for Cryptocurrency Delistings: A Case Study of Binance Exchange

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Financial Studies, EarlyView.
Abstract This study develops an explainable machine learning model to predict cryptocurrency delistings using Binance data. It combines quantitative indicators (price, volume) with qualitative data from real‐time news and Reddit. Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) is used to extract topic trends and community reactions, which are transformed into time ...

Late‐Holocene evolution of a small Sub‐Arctic glacier, Gljúfurárjökull (Tröllaskagi, northern Iceland)

open access: yesBoreas, EarlyView.
Gljúfurárjökull, located on the Tröllaskagi Peninsula in northern Iceland, is a small glacier approximately 3.8 km in length. This study analyses the glacier's evolution through a combination of methods including: (i) geomorphological mapping, (ii) Cosmic‐Ray Exposure (CRE) dating, (iii) lichenometry and (iv) palaeoglacier reconstruction (volume ...

Unravelling the evolution of the Frébouge polygenetic cone in Val Ferret (Mont Blanc Massif)

open access: yesBoreas, EarlyView.
Proglacial settings in the Alps are typically polygenetic, often characterized by a complex and discontinuous interplay between glacial, fluvial and gravitational processes. These processes yield high volumes of sediments, which usually exceed their transportation capacity.
