Disaggregation of Landslide Risk
Abstract Quantifying and disaggregating landslide risk through probabilistic landslide risk analysis (PLRA) is critical for land use regulation and risk reduction. However, no transferable model for PLRA currently exists that resolves landslide consequences to individual buildings at regional scales.

Thermally Activated Static Friction Can Explain Earthquake Interactions
Abstract Unlike meteorological hazards, tectonic earthquakes remain hardly predictable, reinforcing their deadly character. This relates to an out‐of‐equilibrium, intermittent dynamic associated with a strong time asymmetry, with few and non‐systematic foreshocks sometimes preceding large earthquakes, while aftershocks are ubiquitous and have been ...

Intermittent Grain Activity From Grain‐Scale Collective Entrainment Rules
Abstract In bed load sediment transport, grains are moved by turbulent flow and are in nearly continuous contact with other grains, resulting in sediment flux that is intermittent, displaying bursts of activity in both space and time. Understanding the dynamical origin of these fluctuations is a challenge.

The Role of Internal Sedimentologic and Biotic Structure in Moderating Storm‐Induced Dune Erosion
Abstract Laboratory studies indicate that the magnitude of coastal foredune erosion during high‐energy events is influenced by the belowground biomass and sediment grain size of those dunes. However, the extent to which dune architecture mediates wave‐induced erosion in natural settings is largely unknown.
