Models for magnetospheric mass density and average ion mass including radial dependence
Analytical models for magnetospheric mass density, ρm, and average ion mass, M, were created from a database of ρm and electron density, ne, values from six spacecraft missions by making use of the Eureqa nonlinear genetic regression algorithm.

First-principles derivation and properties of density-functional average-atom models
Finite-temperature Kohn-Sham density functional theory (KS-DFT) is a widely-used method in warm dense matter (WDM) simulations and diagnostics. Unfortunately, full KS-DFT-molecular dynamics models scale unfavourably with temperature and there remains ...

Thermospheric atomic oxygen density estimates using the EISCAT Svalbard Radar [PDF]
[1] Coupling between the ionized and neutral atmosphere through particle collisions allows an indirect study of the neutral atmosphere through measurements of ionospheric plasma parameters. We estimate the neutral density of the upper thermosphere above ~

Estimation of Partial derivatives of the average of densities belonging to a family of densities [PDF]
Recently, attention has been drawn to the problem of estimation of a k-variate probability density and its partial derivatives of various orders. Specifically, let X1, …, Xn be i.i.d. k-variate random variables with common density f wrt Lebesgue measure μ on the k-dimensional σ-field Bk. Parzen (1962) in the k = 1 case and Cacoullos (1966) in the k ≧ 1

Averaging of density kernel estimators
Averaging provides an alternative to bandwidth selection for density kernel estimation. We propose a procedure to combine linearly several kernel estimators of a density obtained from different, possibly data-driven, bandwidths. The method relies on minimizing an easily tractable approximation of the integrated square error of the combination.
