Using conditional kernel density estimation for wind power density forecasting [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Of the various renewable energy resources, wind power is widely recognized as one of the most promising. The management of wind farms and electricity systems can benefit greatly from the availability of estimates of the probability distribution of wind ...

Average density of states in disordered graphene systems [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review B, 2008
In this paper, the average density of states (ADOS) with a binary alloy disorder in disordered graphene systems are calculated based on the recursion method. We observe an obvious resonant peak caused by interactions with surrounding impurities and an anti-resonance dip in ADOS curves near the Dirac point.

Adaptive smoothing length method based on weighted average of neighboring particle density for SPH fluid simulation

open access: yesVirtual Reality & Intelligent Hardware, 2021
Background: In the smoothed particle hydrodynamics (SPH) fluid simulation method, thesmoothing length affects not only the process of neighbor search but also the calculation accuracy of the pressure solver. Therefore, it plays a crucial role in ensuring

Average-distance problem for parameterized curves [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
We consider approximating a measure by a parameterized curve subject to length penalization. That is for a given finite compactly supported measure µ, with µ(R d ) > 0 for p ≥ 1 and λ > 0 we consider the functional E(γ) = Z Rd d(x, Γγ) p dµ(x) + λ Length(

A deep learning-based reconstruction model for 3D sound speed field combining underwater vertical information

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science
IntroductionThe sound speed in the ocean significantly influences the propagation characteristics of underwater acoustic signals. Rapid acquisition of underwater three-dimensional (3D) sound speed fields is essential for target detection, acoustic ...

Vertical electron density profiles from digisonde ionograms. The average representative profile

open access: yesAnnals of Geophysics, 1996
Profile calculations from ionograms using the Huang-Reinisch technique arrive at a set of boundary values and coefficients that describe the profile.

Breast cancer risk factors and mammographic density among 12518 average-risk women in rural China

open access: yesBMC Cancer, 2023
Background Mammographic density (MD) is a strong risk factor for breast cancer. We aimed to evaluate the association between MD and breast cancer related risk factors among average-risk women in rural China.

Geometrically averaged density of states as a measure of localization [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review B, 2007
Motivated by current interest in disordered systems of interacting electrons, the effectiveness of the geometrically averaged density of states, $ρ_g(ω)$, as an order parameter for the Anderson transition is examined. In the context of finite-size systems we examine complications which arise from finite energy resolution.
