Patterns of density dependence in moths and aphids

open access: yes, 1992
1. The incidence of density dependence was examined in 5715 time-series of annual abundances of 447 species of moths and aphids in the UK using three techniques (Ricker equation, Bulmer's test and Pollard et al.'s test). 2.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Comparison between average glandular dose (AGD) calculated by mammography equipment and VolparaDose software

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Radiation Sciences
In mammography equipment, the average glandular dose (AGD) is calculated from the incident air kerma (Ki) multiplied by conversion coefficients derived from Monte Carlo simulations, which consider breast thickness and density.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Dynamics of Eucalyptus Diameter Distribution in the State of Minas Gerais

open access: yesFloresta e Ambiente, 2019
The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of age, site, and density factors on the dynamics of eucalyptus diameter distribution. Data were obtained from a continuous forest inventory measured at different occasions, stratified according to the ...
