On average values of arithmetic functions
Mathematical Proceedings of the Cambridge Philosophical Society, 1941The problem considered in this paper is that of finding the least possible h = h(x) such that a given arithmetic function a(n) should keep its average order in the interval x, x + h, i.e. that we haveandas x → ∞.

Set-valued average value at risk and its computation
, 2012New versions of the set-valued average value at risk for multivariate risks are introduced by generalizing the well-known certainty equivalent representation to the set-valued case.

Annual average value of irradiance
Energy, 1984Abstract Average values of irradiance on a horizontal surface are calculated using a single equation which gives the distribution of total radiation as a function of the time of day and day of year. Irradiances measured at Modena (Italy) agree with the calculated values. This general expression may be used to calculate irradiances for other locations.

Questions About the “Average” Value
1990One valuable feature of statistics is that it demands of the user a precise statement of the aims of the investigation. Part of this statement relates to a clear expression of the quantity being studied. To a statistician, the word average has a clear and unambiguous meaning.
