Tuberculosis of the cerebrum was diagnosed in a 21-month-old chicken. Tuberculous lesions were also found in the liver, spleen, lungs, intestinal walls, skeletal muscles, bone marrow, heart wall and ovaries. Mycobacterium avium was isolated from the brain, liver and the lungs.

Avian Tuberculosis Endophthalmitis
Archives of Ophthalmology, 1973A case of unilateral endophthalmitis caused by Mycobacterium avium is presented. This appears to be the first reported ocular involvement associated with this organism. Despite heroic topical, local, and systemic therapy, there was progressive ocular and systemic deterioration.

Avian Tuberculosis in a Wild Turkey
Avian Diseases, 2005A liver from a hunter-harvested wild turkey (Meleagris gallopavo) from Kansas was evaluated by the Southeastern Cooperative Wildlife Disease Study. Grossly, the liver contained several grayish-white masses ranging from 0.5-3 cm in diameter. These masses were scattered throughout the parenchyma and bulged from the capsular surface.
