Alcohol policy and aviation safety
Addiction, 1997AbstractAviation provides an environment which is almost uniquely unforgiving of mistakes. Accordingly, impairment of aircrew performance by alcohol can, and occasionally does, lead to catastrophic mistakes. That such disasters are rare, is a credit to the responsibility of aircrew themselves and to the effectiveness of aviation industry policies ...

Lessons Learned from Aviation Safety
Journal of Safety Research, 2008The principles of Prevention through Design (PtD) may be broadly applied. For example, physicians collect information on adverse effects of drugs from the field. They then turn this information over to the pharmaceutical companies. In response, the pharmaceutical companies evaluate the data and make necessary changes, such as altering the label of a ...

The objective is the general review of impact of aircraft wake vortices on the follower aircraft encountering the wake. Currently, the presence of wake vortices past aircraft limits the airspace capacity and flight safety level for aircraft of different purposes. However, wake vortex nature and evolution have not been studied in full measure.

Aviation safety, an introduction
Air & Space Europe, 2001Abstract Air transport will continue to grow. It has a good relative safety record but public perception focuses on total accidents rather than relative safety. This has led to the setting of ambitious new safety targets for air transport, whose attainment will require improved knowledge of causes of accidents and better understanding of the effects ...
