Compact AWG Based on Slot Arrayed Waveguides

2020 International Conference on UK-China Emerging Technologies (UCET), 2020
In this paper, a method to reduce arrayed waveguide path length increment (ΔL) by coupling to the slot array waveguide is proposed for the compact design of arrayed waveguide grating (AWG). This work effectively optimizes the design of layout to achieve better optoelectronic monolithic integration AWG.

Determination of 20 GHz InP AWG Phase Errors by Measurement of AWG Pulse Train

LEOS 2007 - IEEE Lasers and Electro-Optics Society Annual Meeting Conference Proceedings, 2007
The phase errors of a 20 GHz AWG fabricated on InP are determined by measuring the intensity and phase of the pulse train produced by the transmission of a short pulse through an AWG.

Distortion characterization of exponential signal generated by AWG

2017 IEEE International Instrumentation and Measurement Technology Conference (I2MTC), 2017
In the paper is proposed a procedure to characterize the distortion of the exponential signal generated by Arbitrary Wave Generator (AWG). The basis of the procedure is the same in the case the AWG is set to generate sinusoidal signal. In particular, the resulting signal from the difference between the exponential generated signal and the sinusoidal ...

Design and Applications of AWG and PLC

Integrated Photonics Research, 2002
Design aspects of AWGs and their fundamental properties will be described in detail. Channel numbers of AWGs have been dramatically increased up to 400ch in single wafer. In the multi-chip configuration (tandem AWGs), 1080 ch has been achieved with 25 GHz channel spacing.

Routing in an AWG-Based Optical Packet Switch

Photonic Network Communications, 2003
For the next generation of the optical internet, focus is now moving from circuit switched networks, which occupy a wavelength continuously regardless of the demand at that time, towards optical packet/burst switching. By only occupying a wavelength when data is to be transmitted, a more efficient utilization of bandwidth in optical fibers is strived ...

Performance analysis of AWG Demux for optical network

Proceedings of the International Conference & Workshop on Emerging Trends in Technology - ICWET '11, 2011
In this paper, we emphasize on the design and simulation of four channel arrayed waveguide (AWG) Demux for optical communication network. We have considered three types of AWG Demuxes, namely conventional, variable width and Photonic crystal fiber(PCF) based. The Simulation is performed for 1550nm central wavelength.

Recent advancement in AWG technology

2012 17th Opto-Electronics and Communications Conference, 2012
Silicon photonics WDM filters are important building blocks of 100G transceivers and future on-chip communications between many cores. The tutorial talk deals with four kinds of WDM filters; they are, ring resonators, lattice-form filters, AWGs and planar Echelle gratings. Progress and technical challenges for these filter devices will be described.

Design of AWG-based arbitrarily shaped multiplexers

2014 16th International Conference on Transparent Optical Networks (ICTON), 2014
An arrayed waveguide grating (AWG) has a very well-known configuration, composed of two slab couplers and a grating array; during the past decades, the device has been extensively investigated as frequency (de)multiplexer ((D)MUX), and many different approaches have been proposed to obtain a flat-top response.

Low Distortion Sine Waveform Generation by an AWG

2008 17th Asian Test Symposium, 2008
A harmonic distortion test is often used to check the dynamic linearity of ADCs. As the state-of-the-art ADCs have faster sampling rates, wider bandwidths and higher resolution, the input sine wave typically generated by an Arbitrary Waveform Generator (AWG) in ATE must be higher frequency with very lower distortion.
