High-pressure structural investigation of several zircon-type orthovanadates
Room temperature angle-dispersive x-ray diffraction measurements on zircon-type EuVO4, LuVO4, and ScVO4 were performed up to 27 GPa. In the three compounds we found evidence of a pressure-induced structural phase transformation from zircon to a scheelite-

Collagen hydrolysate is evaluated as a sustainable binder for MgO‐C refractories. Its thermally induced cross‐linking and gas release lead to expansion and cracking in large bricks, but tailored batches with lignin, recyclates, or fine graphite improve the gas release while thermal treatment and stability.

Seismic Behavior of Short Concrete Columns with Prestressing Steel Wires
The seismic behavior of short circular reinforced concrete columns was studied by testing seven columns retrofitted with prestressing steel wire (PSW), subjected to combined constant axial compression and lateral cyclic load.

This study develops sustainable MgO–C refractories using recycled materials and eco‐friendly fructose–tannin binders. The enhanced performance of citric acid as a cross‐linker and functional additives on mechanical and thermomechanical properties was examined. Characterization included strength tests, immersion trials, and microstructural and inclusion

Models for thin viscous sheets [PDF]
Leading-order equations governing the dynamics of a two-dimensional thin viscous sheet are derived. The inclusion of inertia effects is found to result in an ill-posed model when the sheet is compressed, and the resulting paradox is resolved by rescaling

This study reports lightweight polyetherimide triply periodic minimal surfaces lattices coated with carbon nanotube‐reinforced epoxy that combine mechanical robustness with self‐sensing. The conformal coating enhances stiffness, strength and energy absorption while enabling reliable strain monitoring.

Experiment Study of Elasto-plastic Interactive Buckling of H-section Steel Beam-columns
Six welded H-section steel specimens subjected to the axial compressive load, the in-plane shear force and the resulting bending moment around the cross-section major axis are tested monotonically to investigate the elasto-plastic interactive buckling ...

Phenomenological modeling of strain hardening, phase transformation and damage effects of trip-steels [PDF]
In this study, the constitutive modeling of loading state dependent strain hardening and martensite evolution of high alloyed TRIP-steels are addressed, which are experimentally observed comparing uni-axial tension and compression test results ...

Numerical Modeling of Tank Cars Carrying Hazardous Materials With and Without Composite Metal Foam
Large‐scale puncture models consisting of hazardous materials (HAZMATs) tank car with protective steel–steel composite metal foam (S–S CMF) are solved numerically. Tank car plate with added 10.91–13.33 mm thick S–S CMF layer does not puncture. Protective S–S CMF absorbs impact energy, reduces plate deformation, and prevents shear bands formation ...
