On the Lightweight Potential of Laser Additive Manufactured NiTi Triply Periodic Minimal Sheet Lattices

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study explores the lightweight potential of laser additive‐manufactured NiTi triply periodic minimal surface sheet lattices. It systematically investigates the effects of relative density and unit cell size on surface quality, deformation recovery, compression behavior, and energy absorption.

Cooled miniature pressure transducers effective at high temperatures [PDF]

open access: yes, 1968
Miniature pressure transducers in compact water-cooled mounts are placed in hotter and more confined environments than previously possible. It quantitatively measures high frequency total pressure fluctuations resulting from rotating stall in an axial ...

Large scale optimization of transonic axial compressor rotor blades [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
[First Paragraphs] In the present work the Multipoint Approximation Method (MAM) by Toropov et al. (1993) has been applied to the shape optimization of an existing transonic compressor rotor (NASA rotor 37) as a benchmark case.

Investigation of Laser Ablation and Brush Pre‐Treatments for AlCu Cold Roll Bonding in Oxygen‐Free Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
It is shown that laser ablation pretreatment under oxygen‐free conditions enables copper–aluminium bonding at significantly lower deformation degrees and improved properties compared to mechanical brushing. Laser ablation further increases interface contact area and induces favourable residual stress states and microstructural compatibility ...

Performance and Stall Margin Evaluation of Axial Slot Casing Treatment in a Transonic Multistage Compressor

open access: yesAerospace
Adverse pressure gradients are intrinsic to compressor flow behavior and are further intensified by secondary effects associated with rotor tip clearance flow interactions. Tip clearance generates leakage flow, which leads to the formation of tip leakage

Numerical Investigation on Flow Field Distribution of Eccentric Compressors Based on Steady and Unsteady CFD Methods

open access: yesEnergies, 2020
The tip clearance has an important effect on the performance of an engine compressor. While the impact of tip clearance on a concentric compressor has been widely explored in previous research, the flow field distribution of an eccentric compressor has ...

An Experimental Facility with the High-Speed Moving Endwall for Axial Compressor Leakage Flow Research

open access: yesAerospace, 2023
The moving endwall has a great influence on the development and stability of axial compressor leakage flow. This paper presents a novel experimental facility with a high-speed moving endwall for studying axial compressor leakage flow.

Variably positioned guide vanes for aerodynamic choking [PDF]

open access: yes, 1974
A choking device to cause a sonic barrier to be formed which reduces the transmission of noise in a direction opposed to the direction of air flow in a compressor that may be part of an aircraft gas turbine engine is described.

Microstructural Evolution and Vacancy Defect Formation in Mn–Mo–Ni RPV Steel Under Low Cycle Fatigue: Insights From EBSD and PALS

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Low‐cycle fatigue damage in Mn–Mo–Ni reactor pressure vessel steel is examined using a combined electron backscatter diffraction and positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy approach. The study correlates texture evolution, dislocation substructure development, and vacancy‐type defect formation across uniform, necked, and fracture regions, providing

EBSD Study of Creep‐Induced Lattice Misorientation in MgO‐Particle‐Reinforced Austenitic Steel Composites

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Creep experiments at 900°C on coarse‐grained steel‐ceramic composites containing recycled magnesia reveal that higher ceramic volume fractions significantly enhance the creep resistance. Detailed EBSD investigations identify subgrain formation in the steel matrix as the dominant deformation mechanism.
