Axial Dispersion in an Apparatus with Mobile Packing

Collection of Czechoslovak Chemical Communications, 1993
The paper deals with modelling of the flow of liquid on a plate with mobile packing. The results of measurements have been interpreted by means of a simple dispersion model whose two parameters were determined from the nonideal step-input of a tracer and its response.

Axial dispersion in plate-pulsed columns

Bioprocess Engineering, 1987
The residence time distribution (RTD) of the phase under continuous flow and dispersed flow was measured in a plate-pulsed column under countercurrent liquid-liquid flow, and modelled using (i) the axial dispersion model and (ii) the noninteger ideal stage cascade model. The axial mixing in the continuous phase was found to be significantly higher than

Axial dispersion in a channel with oscillating walls

Journal of Fluid Mechanics, 1993
An analysis is made of solute transport through a fluid within a long, but finite, channel or pipe whose walls remain parallel but oscillate transversely. When the fluid is viscous, the wall motion causes steady Streaming. Axial dispersion of solute is calculated over a wide parameter range, and mean longitudinal transport is found to be greatly ...

Axial dispersion of spheres fluidized with liquids

AIChE Journal, 1966
AbstractSolids dispersion due to the simultaneous diffusion (random particle motion) and classification (segregation) of fluidized spheres has been investigated. The model developed permits calculation of the mean concentration of spheres of both sizes in a mixture of two sizes of fluidized spheres as a function of bed length.

Axial dispersion in flow porous electrodes

Journal of Applied Electrochemistry, 1977
The coefficient of axial dispersionDL in a porous electrode, composed of rolled 80-mesh platinum screen, was determined using the process of the flow electrolysis of 2.0×10−3 M K3Fe(CN)6 in 1 MKCl in water. The results were analysed in the light of an earlier model for flow electrodes.

Axial and radial dispersion in fixed beds

Chemical Engineering Science, 1987
Several different methods of describing dispersion in fixed beds are defined and compared with experiment by means of a number of criteria for model validity. The principal criteria are statistical adequacy of the model when compared with experiments, consistency of bed-independent parameters when estimated from bed response, and consistency of ...

Axial dispersion in a pulsed plate column

The Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, 1974
AbstractA technique involving the indicator colour change in an acidbase reaction has been used to measure axial dispersion coefficients in a 15 cm diameter pulsed column. Data have been obtained mainly for single phase (aqueous) flow with two different types of plate at two different spacings.
