L'articolo Taming Axial Dispersion in Hydrodynamic Chromatographic Columns through Wall Patterning, Physics of Fluids 30, 042002 (2018); doi: 10.1063/1.5022257 di A. Adrover, S. Cerbelli, M Giona e' stato selezionato come Top papers in Physics of Fluids 2018

open access: yes, 2018
A well-known limitation of hydrodynamic chromatography arises from the synergistic interaction between transverse diffusion and streamwise convection, which enhances axial dispersion through the Taylor-Aris mechanism.

Heterotropic regulation and negative homotropic cooperativity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We identified a structural module common to some proteins that couple negative cooperativity with heterotropic regulation, two features that rarely coexist. These proteins are ring‐like and present an ordered asymmetry whereby noncontacting subunits are symmetric, and their tertiary structure differs from that of contacting subunits.

Comparative assessment of crystallographic and cryo‐EM models in the Protein Data Bank

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Raw data obtained by X‐ray crystallography or cryo‐EM result in experimental maps, ultimately fitted by atomic models. Although the physical principles are different, the final results can be viewed, compared, and evaluated in the same way. With cryogenic electron microscopy (cryo‐EM) on track to surpass X‐ray crystallography as the preferred method ...

Effect of variable viscosity and wall porosity on the transport of chemically active solute in a three-layered blood flow model

open access: yesAlexandria Engineering Journal
The rheology of blood flow is more complex in microvessels. Because of the accumulation of blood cells (RBCs) at the center of the axis, it behaves as Casson fluid in the core region, while in the absence of blood particles, it behaves as a Newtonian ...

Overall heat transfer coefficient in the presence of the axial dispersion coefficient for a forced draught cooling tower

open access: yesInternational Journal of Energy Research, 1990

Hyperbolic axial dispersion model [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Axial dispersion model is most reliable tool for analyzing the transient response of flow system inside a bundle of pipes. The proposed hyperbolic model considers propagation velocity of flow disturbance to be finite and even of the order of flow ...

Choroid Plexus Enlargement and USPIO‐Based Inflammatory Feature in Cerebral Small Vessel Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective The choroid plexus (CP) is a key component of the blood–cerebrospinal fluid barrier (BCSFB), but its mechanism of action in cerebral small vessel disease (CSVD) remains unclear. This study investigated CP volume (CPV) alterations and their association with conventional imaging markers in CSVD and explored the underlying role of ...

Experimental investigation of axial dispersion in a horizontal rotating cylinder [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
This work reports experimental measurements of the dispersion of particles during rotation in a horizontal cylinder. The axial dispersion of a pulse of approximately monodisperse black glass ballotini into a bed of clear glass ballotini of the same size ...

Uncovering G Protein‐Coupled Receptors: Novel Targets and Biomarkers for Predicting Glioma Prognosis

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Low‐grade gliomas (LGG) exhibit significant heterogeneity and recurrence risk. G protein‐coupled receptors (GPCR) contribute to glioma malignant progression, but their prognostic value remains unclear. This work attempts to formulate a GPCR‐based outcome‐predicting model for LGG. Methods Based on TCGA LGG data, the enrichment scores

Particle Dispersion Behaviors of Dense Gas-Particle Flows in Bubble Fluidized Bed

open access: yesAdvances in Mechanical Engineering, 2013
An Euler-Euler two-fluid model incorporating a developed momentum transfer empirical coefficient is developed to study the particle dispersion behaviors of dense gas-particle flows in gas-fluidization reactor.
