Scale-up of oscillatory flow mixing [PDF]
Oscillatory Flow Mixing is a recent development in mixing technology which has evolved over the past decade. It has a number of similarities to other mixing technologies, particularly pulsed and reciprocating plate columns, but at the laboratory scale ...

Determining axial dispersion coefficients of pilot-scale annular pulsed disc and doughnut columns
Abstract In this study, a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) method was adopted to calculate axial dispersion coefficients of annular pulsed disc and doughnut columns (APDDCs). Passive tracer was uniformly injected by pulse input at the continuous phase inlet, and its concentration governing equation was solved in liquid–liquidtwo-phase flow fields ...

Oncogenic DMTF1β promotes cancer cell motility by regulating autophagy through ULK1 stabilization
In the current study, we demonstrate that the oncogene DMTF1β regulates ULK1 stability by reducing its proteasomal degradation in cancer cells. This stabilization enables ULK1 to induce autophagy, which in turn facilitates cancer cell migration. Consequently, reduced DMTF1β levels lead to decreased autophagy and impaired cancer cell migration.

Modeling oxidation ditches using the IAWPRC activated sludge model with hydrodynamic effects
A mathematical model is presented to predict the concentrations of the active heterotrophic biomass, the readily biodegradable substrate (soluble COD) and the dissolved oxygen (DO) in a completely aerobic oxidation ditch.

Tumor B‐cell infiltration in platinum‐treated advanced muscle‐invasive urothelial carcinoma
Bladder tumors with higher pretreatment memory B‐cell infiltration were linked to longer survival after cisplatin chemotherapy, but not carboplatin. These tumors also showed more organized immune structures (tertiary lymphoid structures) and a shared pro‐inflammatory B‐cell‐rich community, suggesting that memory B cells may help identify patients most ...

Measurement of the axial dispersion coefficient of powders in a rotating cylinder: dependence on bulk flow properties [PDF]
Abstract Rotating drums are encountered in numerous industrial applications, including blenders, rotary calciners, impregnators, coaters, granulators, and cement mixers. In all of these devices, the rotation of the drum is used to engender mixing of the granular material in the radial direction.

Liquid biopsy‐based diagnostic evaluation of hypermethylated CpG sites for ovarian cancer diagnosis
This schematic outlines the workflow from biomarker identification to duplex MethyLight assay validation for epithelial ovarian cancer diagnosis using cfDNA‐based liquid biopsy. Initial screening of hypermethylated CpG candidates (cg02957270, cg10061138 cg00480298, COL2A1) was performed in tissue using ARMS‐PCR, COBRA, qPCR and image analysis. Selected

Liquid-Phase Back mixing in Bubble Columns
Liquid-phase axial dispersion coefficients have been measured for air-water system in bubble columns of 10, 15 and 30 cm diameter. The experiments are carried out using a transient method (the tracer response method).

Axial dispersion of the liquid phase in a three-phase Karr reciprocating plate column [PDF]
The influence of the gas flow rate and vibration intensity in the presence of the solid phase (polypropylene spheres) on axial mixing of the liquid phase in a three phase (gas-liquid-solid) Karr reciprocating plate column (RPC) was investigated. Assuming
