Determination of axial dispersion coefficients in plate heat exchangers using residence time measurements

Revue Générale de Thermique, 1997
Residence time measurements are introduced as a transient measurement technique for the fast and convenient determination of axial dispersion coefficients in plate heat exchangers. In front of the exchanger inlet a salt solution pulse is injected into the steady flow stream and propagates with dispersion to the exit of the exchanger.

Gas‐bubble hold‐up and axial dispersion coefficient of emulsion phases in fluidized beds

The Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, 1987
AbstractA model for liquid mixing in a gas‐liquid bubble column is extended to predict gas‐bubble hold‐up and axial dispersion coefficient of emulsion phases in fluidized beds. Reasonable agreement is found between the proposed model which includes no adjustable parameter and the available experimental data and correlations.

Principal Axes and Values of the Dispersion Coefficient in the 2D Axially Symmetric Porous Medium

2010
We perform the diagonalization of the 2nd rank dispersion tensor D ij in the 2-dim anisotropic porous medium with two mirror lines, which are perpendicular to each other. We derive the eigenvalues of the matrix and calculate an angular measure of anisotropy.

Shock Layer Theory and Concentration Dependence of the Axial Dispersion and the Mass-Transfer Rate Coefficients

Industrial & Engineering Chemistry Research, 1997
Independent determinations of the coefficients of axial dispersion and of the mass-transfer kinetics have been found to be concentration dependent in protein chromatography. The consequences of this observation are studied on a theoretical basis. Numerical calculations of breakthrough curves were carried out, assuming a linear dependence of these ...
