The measurement and calculation of axial electromagnetic forces in concentric transformer windings

Journal of the Institution of Electrical Engineers, 1954
An experimental method of determining the axial forces in power transformers is applied to a transformer constructed so that various tapping arrangements can be set up, and curves are given of the forces which occur with typical methods of tapping concentric windings.

Evaluation of Electromagnetic Forces in an Axially-Magnetized MPD Arcjet Plasma

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2003
Characteristics of an axially‐magnetized plasma flow has been investigated in the vicinity of a magneto‐plasma‐dynamic arcjet (MPDA) by use of spectroscopy, Mach probes and magnetic probes. Axial and rotational flow velocity and temperature of He ion and atom near the muzzle region of MPDA are measured by Doppler shift and broadening of the HeI (λ ...

Analysis of winding disk in transformer under action of axial electromagnetic forces by Green's function approach

International Journal of Applied Electromagnetics and Mechanics, 2010
Dynamic axial displacement of high voltage (HV) winding disk of a power transformer has been calculated by Green's function approach, when time varying axial electromagnetic forces corresponding to worst case of short circuit condition, are applied. An elaborate analysis of the axial electromagnetic forces and corresponding axial displacement of a top ...

Transient analysis of axial electromagnetic force in transformer windings under overcurrent impacts

International Journal of Applied Electromagnetics and Mechanics
Due to the vulnerability of power transformer windings to overcurrent impact during operation, significant electromagnetic forces are generated, posing potential hazards of failure. Therefore, it is crucial to conduct an analysis of the electromagnetic forces under overcurrent conditions.

The determination of electromagnetic forces in transformer windings with axial symmetry by means of a resistance network

Mathematics and Computers in Simulation, 1961
It is shown that the determination of the electromagnetic forces in transformer windings axial symmetry can be effected by means of a two-dimensional resistance network, with currents injected at a number of nodes. The network components are evaluated, and some comparison is given between the analogue and digital approach to the problem.

Evaluation of Electromagnetic Forces on A Magnet Switch for A Co-Axial Type Starting Motor by Finite Element Analysis

International Journal of Applied Electromagnetics and Mechanics, 1992
A calculation of the electromagnetic forces is described for the solenoid plunger of a magnet switch to be used in an automotive starting motor. In order to improve its force versus plunger position characteristics, for the co-axial type starting motor of which the magnet switch is arranged on a concentric axis with the motor, a new type magnet switch ...
