Flat plate heat transfer with impinging axial fan flows
Axial flow fans are widely used for the augmentation of heat transfer. One such use is an axial flow fan impinging air on to a heated flat plate which has many practical applications and has been experimentally investigated to characterize local heat ...

Investigation of power distribution on an axial fan
2016 15th IEEE Intersociety Conference on Thermal and Thermomechanical Phenomena in Electronic Systems (ITherm), 2016Forced convection cooling systems utilize fans which can be axial or radial, small or large in many different configurations. Efficiency of a fan depends on its electrical and mechanical designs as well as the environmental conditions that the fan is exposed to. Typically, the overall efficiency of an axial fan varies between 15 to 40 percent.

Acoustic analysis of an axial fan
2017 16th IEEE Intersociety Conference on Thermal and Thermomechanical Phenomena in Electronic Systems (ITherm), 2017Axial fans are often used in cooling electronic enclosures where low noise levels are highly demanded. Therefore, methods for predicting the noise emitted by an application including single or multiple fans are desirable to improve, stimulate and reduce the cost of low-noise design.

The axial fan for a computer comprises a rotatable fan blade unit and a motor unit. The fan blade unit comprises a fan head and a plurality of fan blades arranged radially thereto. The motor unit is held by supports passing through the airflow. The supports have a distance of at least 7.5 mm from the fan blades measured in axial direction.

Optimisation of efficiency of axial fans
2014A three-stage research project has been executed to develop ducted axial-fans with increased efficiency. In the first stage a design method has been developed in which various conflicting design criteria can be incorporated. Based on this design method, an optimised design has been determined through the use of a genetic optimisation algorithm.
